With a niche specialisation and with our young fren clearly being more driven than I was at that age, he’s gonna make it regardless where he goes.

Itll take some luck, but with a niche specialisation, he’ll be above a lot of other candidates.

Looking at in house banking or a financial sponsor (Chatham are a good one I work with a lot), you’ll find a lot of demand for renewables projects and the degree focus will be worth it.

I'm not trying to just shit on him, anon. Law school in the US has been oversold for decades, specifically because it has very low overhead and they charge a fuck-ton for tuition. I know too many law grads who spent years schlepping coffee because there was no one who would hire them, and these weren't shitty students. They just went to schools that didn't have brand recognition so they didn't get past HR. Add to that the exorbitant loans that many students have to take out for law school and it's a recipe for disaster for many 20 somethings. If anon has some kind of in, then that could help but where you go to law school absolutely matters in the US.

>>27663906
Not trying to fuck with you, anon. I just don't want you to go into things without a comprehensive picture. Schools sell law school as a free pass into white collar upper-middle class to wealthy living, and that's not the reality of the situation. Rates of employment post grad include all jobs, not just law jobs, so someone who graduates from State Central Law and gets a job at Starbucks is as gainfully employed as someone working for Dewey, Cheatum, and Howl Law as a junior associate.

DYOR, anon. There is a lot of bullshit associated with law school in the US.

Nobody knows anon. A settlement by definition can come any time prior to a final judgement by a court.

It could come tomorrow. It could come never.

My bet, having read ripples response, is that they’re not going to settle before 22/2, as they’re going to try to get the case tossed first. If that doesn’t happen, they’ll have to face the SEC’s extortion tactics (a scattergun suit that will last months or years), which will compel them to settle (the SEC also will be looking to settle - they always are as they can then chalk up a win without risking losing in court).

So keep an eye out on 22/2 and on the weeks following.

What? Why would they want to get it tossed. The SEC is just extorting them in the suit, and Ripple has asked the judge to rule XRP a currency. There is no advantage to getting it tossed and every advantage to pushing through the suit and going for the W.

If it gets tossed, effectively the SEC’s allegations are all tossed (including the allegation that xrp is a security). The judge would need to explain why she’s tossing in her ruling, which can include “this thing is obviously not a security” or “FINCEN has already ruled this a ccy”.

Imo, that’s likely the preferred outcome. I don’t believe ripple really care about clarity for the whole market and neither do I. Having ripple as one of the only coins with actual clarity (not a security), would put it ahead of vertically all else.

i just posted this in another thread:

the value of xrp is not its value as a speculative asset such as buying gold or oil or collectibles and hoping they appreciate. the value of xrp is that it is the native currency of the ripplenet. ripplenet is going to become the standard interbank and intercurrency exchange protocol. blockchain purists get buttmad that ripple is "centralized," but honestly there has to be a degree of centralization if it is ever going to become fully accepted by governments and regulators. and even though there are arguments back and forth whether that is ultimately a good thing, the truth is that the need for something resembling a central governing body. right now the worlds of crypto and fiat currencies are just kind of ,orbiting each other in this uncomfortable courtship. i believe there is a good chance this pending SEC complaint will not only end favorably for ripple, but will also lead to clearer guidance on the role of crypto in the financial system. the solutions ripplenet provides for interbank settlement and reconciliation is orders of magnitude more efficient than how we do things now. between clearing houses, wire rooms, intermediary banks, foreign currency conversion, etc., so many billions of dollars in lost productivity get wasted waiting for things to churn through the guts of the financial system. what ripple provides is basically a viable alternative that is already piloted and basically ready to take out of the box and go. the amount of friction it is going to remove from interbank processing is going to completely change the way banks operate.

yeah so you send $$$ or other crypto to Bitstamp, then trade it for "Cash IOUs," which are representations of the money you sent to Bitstamp. from their you transfer it to your XUMM wallet, or the XRP toolkit operating from your Ledger and then can swap it on the decentralized exchange, at which point it will show up in your XUMM wallet (you have to enable the currency in XUMM wallet first before it will work though)

anybody know how i can buy SOLO on the Dex using XUMM?

uhh so XUMM allows you to interface directly with the XRP ledger and trade on its built in decentralized exchange. after you send the IOUs to your XUMM, there's an in-app option to trade them for other assets. then you can cash them out on Bitstamp or Gatehub (and maybe other places, I'm not sure about what other gateways exist). this video shows the process
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUF8koS5kpI

it's kinda tricky, especially for the tech illiterate like myself, but i have fun learning about this stuff because i really do believe that the financial system of the future is going to be built around the XRPL and the more i learn now, the easier i'll be able to navigate it (and use it to make money) in the future. like, i imagine that most people or even institutions will not use the XRPL or Flare directly, they'll use "services" so if i put in the work now and educate myself, maybe i'll be able to have a sideline as a Flare agent or XRPL stablecoin Forex arbitrage trader or some futuristic bullshit, idk. And even if i don't use it to make money in the future it's still rad as fuck, once you grok what the XRPL is and does, it's amazing. literally UFO level technology. for example, the concept of "Rippling," applied to international finance, alone is fucking huge and revolutionary.
