If the US is anything like Canada right now, then just look at smaller cities/towns near big cities. Trend lately is that people from the big cities are moving to nearby smaller ones since they can telecommute. They sell their houses in the big city and basically get a similar house for half the price. Bought my house 6 months ago and it's already up like 15%.

However, here in Canada the government seems to do just about anything to not let our housing market crash, whereas I think they have let the US housing market crash and may again.
