So visa is positioning themselves to act as a second layer to the bitcoin network? Pass. Fuck visa, I'll continue to make onchain transactions and use undisclosed amounts of monero.

It's Paypal but on steroids and it sounds like you can withdraw bitcoin to your own private wallet as well. It's real banking for your btc. Like it or not, shit like this is necessary for widespread adoption. You want 500k btc or not?

There's just no need for it at the moment, and if a second layer becomes necessary (due to network congestion) I'd rather use the Lightning network than let Visa get their claws on transactions. And it's bearish for monero if people adopt bitcoin en masse for everyday purchases instead of using monero which is better suited to that usecase in multiple ways.

Bitcoin will go to 500k whether or not Visa gets involved. With the dollar crashing and the stock market only held up by money printing, there's very few assets one can put money into as a store of wealth.

Yeah I was about to add that point. And then we start seeing banks with FDIC insurance doing what Blockfi is doing now.

Between all the institutional investors (grayscale, microstrategy, etc) and now Visa investing in BTC, I don't think worrying about the government cracking down and banning it is even remotely realistic anymore. I think we're here to stay.

If anything, I could see Visa convince regulators to not tax capital gains on small purchases with crypto through their ecosystem.
