Most of the coins you see are ERC-20 tokens, meaning they exist on the Ethereum network. Gwei is short for gigawei, wei being the smallest unit of ether (1 ether = 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 wei)
To do transactions with those coins and use the Ethereum network, you have to pay fees which are called gas and go to the miners mining the blocks (iirc), and there's a lot of talk about that right now because Ethereum is a slow piece of shit and the gas fees are absurdly high.

No problem. There's money to be made here, as long as you're smart about it and do your due dilligence. Don't put all your eggs into one basket, diversify your shit so if one or a few coins fail you still have the others, don't fall for shitcoins (literally everything gets called a shitcoin here now so it's up to you to do your own research and identify which ones have actual value) and if you decide to hold something because you think it's undervalued at the moment, actually go through and don't bitch out the second it drops, it can take years for some coins to see gains but when they eventually do, you get 10x's, 50x's, 100x's and if you were lucky and bought in really early, even more.
If you lurk for a bit more you'll get a general idea of the "hot" coins people are talking about right now and what's good and what isn't so much and can start from there. Godspeed.
