32 year old dude here. Made a hilarious amount of money in crypto in 2017. 50k>1.1MM and took home about 740k after taxes between 2017/2018.

I was already debt free and owned a home which I paid off the rest of with 250k (fuck mortgages), and then transferred 400k into the stock market.

Since them, my net worth has fluctuated between 600k-1.5MM since I occasionally make retarded trades, but in general I have 800k in safe bets and 200-400k revolving in stupid bets. I quite my job in 2017 after the crypto stuff and just life off the excess of my stocks. I take out about 150k every year to work with and just enjoy my life.

However... what I'm doing feels wrong? I see all my friends wage cucking, even the super successful ones, and just none of it appeals to me. I'm really enjoying my youth as I firmly believe you can only enjoy life until you're 45 or so, then it all goes downhill. I mean what's the point of traveling in your 50s and 60s? I want to do everything NOW while I'm still young-ish.

But idk, I just feel like I'm out of the loop. I just live my own life at my own pace and I sort of feel guilty about how happy I am. Who else does this? How do you get through the days?

How much it goes up is the gain

You pay taxes on gains only.

Every time you trade a crypto, it is called a taxable event meaning the gains or losses are "locked in" and factored in.

For example, if you buy crypto and never sell, you don't pay taxes

if you buy crypto and sell or trade into another crypto, you're now taxed on whatever gains you made, or can write off your losses.

If you hold crypto for over a year it's considered capitalize gains and you pay less tax, under a year and tax is treated as income tax.

Think about it this way. There are significantly more people who are way more qualified than your friends who have those jobs, they got those because of connections, the interviewer was in a good mood during their interviews, the company for which they were interviewing for just so happened to ACTUALLY need someone with their particular skillset or in other words the interviewer stumbled upon an ad that was a legitimate opportunity, etc.

You got lucky in 2017-2018 or whatever. So did everyone who got jobs that made them "successful". If it was meant to be, it was meant to be. It's all luck, you have little control over your trajectory. That's why you shouldn't feel guilty.
