Can I live off this? How long does unemployment last and how to get other gov gibs?

Assume 7% yearly off of indexes. Can you survive on $38,500 a year?

Similar job, have 300k, and I ask myself this exact question daily.

Just don’t withdraw too much in a year and you’ll probably quality for obummercare and a bunch of other shit. 550k wouldn’t last you the rest of your life but it wouldn’t take long to reach 1mil if your investments are compounding. Sounds like you need to get a better job.

Look up the 4% rule. 7 isn’t sustainable

Yeah it would have to be 4%

4% rules assume 50% in bonds, which is retarded. Don't be a loser, ride the wave. Worst case you go get a manual labor jb or similar for a while while your money recovers, and you collect government income based gibs.

I will be riding the wave. I just don't know if I have to balls to not work the rest of the year and focus on crypto. I literally don't want another wagie job taking my time up right now

Literally me down to being the only non-Indian on my team

Let me tell you what I did. I have 500k in crypto and an additional 150k in cash. In my case I had a side project (indie game) that I was passionate about and I felt had a shot at succeeding. So I quit my job to take a "career break" for a couple of years to work on my game.

a) If the game succeeds, great, I have a new life doing what I love. b) If the game doesn't succeed, that's fine, hopefully my crypto will hit a million by then and I am still free of the rat race. c) If my game and crypto both fail, I still have something to show for the last two years of my life in case I have to re-enter the rat race. Making a game is def. not corporate work but better than nothing.

The big assumption is that my portfolio is able to at least hit a million (it's mostly in Link, if Link hits $50 in the next couple of years I make it). I define making it as not having to wagecuck to pay bills for a middle class existence. And again I have a 150k safety net in cash that gave me some assurance in doing this.

I think 550k is a reasonable safety net if you want to spend a couple of years when you're young to try something out (what I'm doing) but I think you'd need at least double that to be in a position of never having to work again.

Good luck

Thank you for the advice, and I hope things work out for you. Your 150k cash position is golden.

I don't have much cash saved right now which is kind of worrying. I'd have to cash a little out and go move in with my parents for a bit.
