Somebody was asking a couple of threads ago how we know that silver is 50,000% short, as opposed to GME which is 150% short. Answer is, read Chris Marcus's new book "The Big Silver Short." The industry insiders whom he interviewed for his book estimate that there are about 500 fake "paper" "digital" ounces for every real physical one. The banks are all extremely short silver (picture related is the latest COT data) so 1 > 500 = 50,000%.

Yes. Remember, the price on goldprice.org, Kitco.com etc., is derived from the COMEX. It's completely fake. And the banks have no choice but to keep doubling down and shorting there anyway. I think that people are finally starting to realise that the paper price is meaningless.

On Tuesday, on the other hand, silver will fall significantly again. The reason: the increase in the required security per silver futures contract by 18 percent (initial margin).

'Investment waves in the precious metals sector are regularly broken by this means of increased liquid margins. For the sellers (establishment) the increased liquidity requirement is not a problem, for the rest of the market it is (to some extent forced liquidation). As a result, the silver price lost ground ', commented Folker Hellmeyer, chief analyst at Solvecon Invest, on the events on the silver market.

The total demand will probably go up because of this. One thing that happens when you buy physical is you can't sell it easily. When people who bought physical realize they didn't get rich quick on it, they can't just dump it back on the market, so it is likely that at least some of them will start to actually look into why anyone would buy silver in the first place, thereby turning them into permanent hoarders.

So...if they want to hoard the silver, then why sell it???

sorry man i missed your question. Basically i dont think they want to. It is however a very valuable resource in manufacturing (particularly electronics) and there needs to be a trade market for it. But, thats why they sell paper shares and they absolutely panic when there starts to be a drain on physical supply. I suspect they try to keep the price low as well because if it was worth as much as it should be it would raise a lot of attention as to where all the phsyical silver bullion is stored and where its being moved to. It absolutely would not surprise me right now if they were trying to (and have been) siphoning off their supply to some other (((country))) for 'safe keeping' in the event there is a federally backed run on silver.

Which seems good as I got in at 20 something with the few shares I got. Seems poised tho.

Is gold easy to cut/scrape? Even if you couldn't take a whole bar,why not melt or cut a chunk off and unironically eat it when you get in the plane home? I assume that would fetch a pretty penny for some gi.

That or mould one into a butt plug or dildo and bear with it an the long flight home... unless the army does alot of but searches of its troops you should be fine right?

Anyway looting a battle is a time honoured tradition of wars, fuck the (((UN))) or wherever who tell you otherwise for 'moral' reasons, just remember the two rules of pillaging:

1.Dont get too greedy and weighed down unless a friendly base/camp is nearby you can unload it all and you wont get rattled out or disciplined for stealing the ottoman rug you want to give to grandma. Rings, belt buckles, small precious stones pried from vases, ceremonial knives, enemy firearms and medals and even gold teeth if your willing (pliers or knife and elbow grease required) are acceptable and easy to carry.

2. ALWAYS kick up large spoils to your officers so you dont get in trouble and they turn a blind eye to you activities. This includes anything usually so it's good insurance.

What is silver-spoofing?

Spoofing is defined as sending orders to a market that one does not intend to fulfill.

For example, if you sell a silver futures contract for $ 23.50, you make multiple offers to buy at $ 23.30, $ 23.35, $ 23.40, and $ 23.45. These additional offers can convince other traders that there is more demand in the market than is actually the case.

The purpose is to sell your contract to one of these traders at your asking price of $ 23.50. Then cancel the offers.

For example, if you arbitrate spot and futures, you have to change your offers on the futures market every time the offers on the spot market or the LIBOR market change.

And if you also trade in SLV and other ETFs, then it gets more complicated. If you then add different, physical products in different places around the world, as well as some other exchanges like the SGE, the complexity (and the speed of order creation and cancellation) grows exponentially.

It may seem like a simple concept to tell the difference between a 'legitimate' market maker versus an 'illegitimate' spoofer. But in practice it is incredibly difficult.

Physical holdings are a preservation of wealth and promise great outcomes AFTER economies collapse. People seem to forget this.

In spite of their many problems, England has some objectively very fair treasure trove laws which could serve as a worldwide model. Archaeological treasures still get melted for bullion in more backwards regions but are celebrated and highly valued in the UK, with landowners and hunters being compensated so well that it actually encourages further compliance and participation. They don't do much right these days but balanced personal and public interests almost perfectly here.

Like you say, one or two at best. It used to be so much simpler.

Here's a history lesson for you:
My great-great grandfather made it so even now my family are upper middle class and he was a commoner turned Sargent from birmingham. How? Well during the second opium war he was at the raid on the old summer palace he made a fucking MINT actually auditing and slitting the loot for certain officers (and assuredly pocketing some himself.)

My sister still owns a jade figurine of a woman -we think it was part of a chess set-thats been passed down the generations. I'm sure some chunks will seethe to this day at the thought of that lol.

Any decent dealer I have been to will probably use various methods for first testing the silver to check for authenticity. Afterwards, they probably would just offer a little less off spot price. The only way to beat this game is to hold the silver for a fuck ton of time and then see where it is later if it's worth to sell (but usually physical should just be kept to pass down generations or after a collapse).

It is amazing to think that it is not money that is the most important thing that is required to make a profit off of physical, but literal time. It is something the boomers cannot obtain anymore. Time is absolutely required to see a profit off of poured silver or really any silver that isn't government produced. Either way, it is fun to play with in comparison to American eagles. You pay for a premium to buy those as well but at least eagles also can be sold for a dollar more than spot usually.

I like to buy gold bars, I’m not even that into coins desu. I have some silver, but like, even if you’re paying $45/oz it’s not relatively that much money and if you have money for metals wouldn’t you just buy gold or platinum anyways?

I don’t see anyone who actually collects or hoards giving up their metals. Most guys I know (including my own dad and grandfather) would literally rather give up an arm than part with any bit of their stash. Go figure they’ll freely give out gram and half-grams as gifts but I cannot see them, or myself, ever selling my metal. From the looks of it silver is just expensive but also somehow very cheap.

I get silver is being shorted buying physical is kinda duh if you want to cause a short squeeze but don’t people also have literal metric fucktons of physical silver? Even if the boomers got together to buy a bunch I don’t see this making the biggest dent. Frankly it feels more like a prepper sorta mindset, not a financial one.

Silver was sold out all over the world during the last weekend. Caused a massive +10% spike on Monday, never seen a commodity do a move like that in a single day. JPM's shorts stopped it from going over $30 and today smacked it way down by shorting 1.65x of the annual silver production amount of paper contracts. Fucking Unlimited Paper Works.

Question is: how long can they keep doing that? Not forever I'm sure. Physical supply is still low and demand should remain high I imagine.

Junk silver (constitutional) is normally the cheapest premium and entry into silver because it's already been minted and circulated. A good deal was 3-4% over spot, some places would charge 5-10%. Online now though some places are crazy and charging insane premiums.
