It's currently being used to distract, but it's not necessarily a bad investment in of itself. Buying and holding the actual material will be good for when the system collapses since metal is always going to have a use, unlike a piece of paper that has value just because. No matter if the system collapses from a market crash due to stock memes or a second american civil war or anything short of a total nuclear glassing, bullion will most likely still hold some value.

Doesn't matter, that's only if you buy SLV where you can't demand delivery. You can on the COMEX. If we wipe out physical inventories and buy PSLV shares, delivery will be demanded on the COMEX, which will lead to a default, a collapse of the paper empire and immediate $1000 silver.

LOL people that don't understand how things work pushing GME like it's going somewhere. The damage is already done to citadel. Their short contracts expired on Friday. Time to pay. And they are - they're selling their securities. But Citadel owned and sold SLV, not real physical silver - and SLV is traded over 100:1 against physical silver. Meaning they sell 100 pieces of paper for every 1 ounce they have on hand. So Citadel sold their SLV position. SLV is driven by iShares, which is owned by JPM. JPM was in trouble last year for manipulating the PM market.
Now, when things go tits-up it follows the money upstream. Clearing houses like citadel pass the buck off to their investment banks. In this case the investment bank is JPM. The damage was already done to Citadel - they had to sell securities to cover their losses. Now we have to follow up with a right-hook to JPM. Nobody controls who holds the bomb, they're just trying to set it off.
