Zoomer (18) here, I have a circle of finance-bro friends, can attest, everyone thinks cryptos are a bygone meme. The general attitude is that bitcoins are too volatile to be good for anything, and everything else is just a pump and dump riding bitcoin's fame.
There is no new long term meme to replace crypto hype, currently everybody is buzzed about $GME.

Golds conductivity is worse than copper. Silver has the best conductivity but if you use copper with an bigger diameter you will have the same results. Industry will just use more copper if silver price skyrockets.

things only have value because we assign it to them. nothing has "intrinsic value", don't let anybody tell you that. precious metals were historically considered valuable because they could be used to mint coins, now they are pointless. fiat currency is better for liquid wealth, securities are better for illiquid wealth. people still consider precious metals valuable because MUH HISTORY :DDDD. For who and what purpose? The answer is for you and because hoarding it means it's valuable and you'll want some later cause you see they have it. What actually has value is infrastructure and a medium of exchange to claim that infrastructure. The infrastructure for crypto is their servers like the infrastructure for gold is banks, and why would a government working with the banks not want to fortify them so you stay obedient to them?

>>27279877
I'd argue location and resources essential for survival have some level of intrinsic value though. We just don't think about those much because we have somewhat of an abundance of them for now.

Holy shit why do you retards need to be spoon fed everything, the point is a diverse investment portfolio. No one believes we're going to an apocalyptic waste-land world, people believe that our cash can be hyper inflated/deflated. Metals have proven to hold their value through thick and thin so its wise to at least put a portion of your wealth there. Look at it as an emergency insurance, one that you can't spend on day to day things and one that has uses in industrial applications, like electricity.

No one is going to tell you what to do but its not their fault you're this retarded to make such hyperbolic arguments and then completely ignore wealth fundamentals. Diversify.

Have they put much research into DeFi projects? If they're investing in GME and don't see the need for Defi after how quickly trading was restricted their opinions might not hold much value. A very serious conversation should be happening within every investors mind and circle about moving away from centralization, GME is only the catalyst.

If volatility is the issue check out projects like Statera. an indexed deflationary token. If wSTA is pooled with every cryptocurrency, market volatility will calm down and will allow anyone to profit off trading, it cuts out marketmakers and instead allows poolers to reap the insane interest rates for providing liquidity.

Just have 6 to 12 months of living expenses in an emergency fund, of which 1/4 to 1/3 is in gold. You don't need more than that - the gold is there to hedge against (hyper)inflation. If an emergency pops up, pay for it with your dollars and fill the bucket again after the emergency is over. Try not to touch the gold for the rest of your life, make it a goal to pass it down to your children.
