Well you can rent a channel. Of course that's going to cost quite a lot in the long run if you don't actively trade. But then again if you open and close the channel with each trade then you're paying two on-chain fees for each trade.

Only if you're renting a channel from someone else then. So you're relying on a 3rd party. A 3rd party with a lot of collateral. If you want 1000 people to trade 1BTC, you'd need 1000BTC on lightning. I think that's about the maximum that is in lightning nodes just now. So THEN, you'd need ALL of those lightning nodes to convert to the Staknet dex. Since, the Stakent lightning node is incapable of having 1000BTC locked in it...
