Wallets are just like online inventories/bags where you store your coins.

To use uniswap/metamask you need a wallet. These 2 are only used to trade, imagine them being just like hands you use to move your coins from 1 wallet to another. Although I think metamask is both a trade platform and a wallet itself.


I have some of my coins in a Coinbase Wallet, its an app different from Coinbase but you can link both if you want. You can use Coinbase to deposit money from your bank/debit card, then transfer them to Coinbase Wallet, then you can use UNISWAP/METAMASK to trade coins from your Coinbase Wallet into other coins. I didn't understand anything at first, it took me a few tries to understand it, just make sure you always have ETH when you use UNISWAP/METAMASK because you have to pay like $10-$20 everytime you use it to trade coins.
For example you wanna buy $100 of SHIB, you can only buy $80 because $20 will be used up as "gas". If you want to sell later you have to turn your SHIB into ETH again and you'll need $20 ETH in order to trade it.. Only sell when your $80 has turned into $300 or something, enough for you to make a profit and you should ALWAYS have at least $40 ETH so you can sell and buy back

Metamask is an easy wallet start, then you should buy some etherium at coinbase or something and transfer it.
The etherium acts as your currency for the decentralized market.
Then go to uniswap and connect your wallet. You should be able to search the coins from there.

Gas is essentially the exchange fee, it depends on traffic too so it'll spike at certain times. Its anywhere from $10 to $40 sometimes.
