That's why I'm using my regular retard strategy of going for the absolute tightest spread I can and buying a fucking bajillion options spreads. If It goes up, big deal. I make almost nothing on the options but my 5 shares are on their way to mars. If it crashes, my losses are covered and I get a bit back. The objective is to ride the squeeze, take profits near the top, roll them into more options and let the things make money on the way down. The beauty of using wide calendar spreads is that even if vega eats my premium away the long leg is still far enough in the future that the theta decay of the short leg still creates a huge gap in the prices of the options.

Also I'm well aware of vega culling my profits when the stock starts to settle. That's why I have to close the spreads fairly soon after the drop stops and this is actually a bit of a balancing act to position the short leg's expiry to give this shit enough time to play out and gamestop to fall without it expiring early and underperforming, while not placing it so far out that the profits are spread thin, this shitfest ends too soon and it both underperforms and vega starts dropping my profits before it reaches full returns. Either way, a tenbag with these spreads is a fairly conservative gain.

The way I understand it, short sellers already borrowed shares and it doesn't matter if there are more shares available to be borrowed because they instead have to buy the shares to close their position. There has to be shares available to buy in order for them to close, if enough of the stock is shorted and the price moves against them, it then creates a snowball effect and forces even more short sellers to close their positions cover themselves and limit risk since shorting has infinite potential losses.

If they all just waited it out and didn't buy to close, it would take much longer for the entire situation to resolve. And right now, the short position interest charge for GME shares is 50%.
