Lots of packages came in yesterday and today! I like having diverse types of coins, even if war nickels are shit-tier. The liberty quarters are in pretty bad condition but I got them close to spot, and silver is silver.

Newfags feel free to ask me questions about the logistics of buying physical silver, I'm not an expert or anything but I'd love to help since it seems like we have a lot of soldiers looking to take down the paper market.

thanks for the response. reposting for new thread.

here's what I don't understand though. the "spot" price that they use at the LCS and in online stores (somewhat, since they add their premiums anyway) is the price of SLV, no?

when will the two officially divorce? when will people stop pretending that Comex's fake price is what we're buying and selling actual silver for? what will be the consequence of this divorce?

>Aren't you actually not allowed to take possession of a Comex contract unless you're one of the (((chosen))) few banks - or was that specifically for SLV?

No, that's SLV. Dave Kranzler has taken possession on the COMEX before and proved that it can be done. But he says that when somebody who wasn't a bank tried to take delivery with GLD they were denied. Same thing goes for SLV (see picture). SLV (like Bitcoin) is simply a sideshow which is intended to divert capital and attention away from physical silver, the true banker-killer. That's how they can get away with limiting delivery to only a few big banks. If only banks were allowed to take delivery on the COMEX it would be as good as admitting to a default.

The blackpill is that even with the combined autism of everyone involved the banks will still be able to return to manipulating the silver markets through other means, either they target other miners, cut deals with mining companies to supply the Comex at a higher ratio than their industrial buyers and all sorts of other slimy ways to put downward pressure until us the small investors run out of disposable income to accumulate, and we return to normal.

The upside is that, if you bought physical silver - it's yours. It's never going away. The price may fluctuate up or down depending on supply and demand, but the next few years look extremely bullish for silver due to the technologies that use it, the supply shortages occurring because of it and the economic instability that everyone but the most ignorant feel is coming. If the economy stabilizes without a major crash - great, that means that you won't need to rely on your silver as an insurance policy. If it does crash, then you have it to fall back on.

Silver isn't an investment, although it can be one, it's a store of value and insurance policy. If you're very wealthy get some Gold too.

This doesn't really work as satire because Peter Schiff has been pretty pessimistic and sceptical about what has been going on lately. He even mocked the people piling into First Majestic today (interview with Meet Kevin) and told them to buy his gold fund instead because it's "safer" and "more diversified." He simply doesn't grasp the Zeitgeist, the fact that furious people with nothing to lose are punishing bankers and bankrupting hedge-funds. Same thing goes for Kranzler and Brady and Hemke and a lot of other people whom I have more or less respect for. I don't think that these jaded boomers really understand young people's energy or mindset and the revolution which is happening before their eyes. They would probably run a mile if they saw 4chan, it would simply be too hard for them to comprehend. They can’t see what we see. This _is_ the Black Swan which all of us have been waiting for. The masses have been awakened to the power of squeezing short positions, and silver is the most shorted asset of all time. GME was 140% short; it was only a matter of time before people realised that silver positions are up to 50,000% short. GME is the hedge-fund killer, silver is the banker-killer.

The “mainstream” person who seems to perceive best what is going on right now is Alasdair Macleod, and that is because he understands so well the short position of the banks and what they have to lose. His prediction that the dollar would die in 2021 may very well come true.

That's PSLV. But taking delivery on PSLV isn't necessary to break the COMEX because PSLV will take delivery on the COMEX of its own accord if people keep buying more and more PSLV shares.

Something that wasn't mentioned is the scaling expense ratios of both. If you buy physical silver, you can store them in secure vaults for annual fees. PSLV has something similar with expense ratios but there is a key difference to keep in mind.
PSLV charges it per share (deducted from the NAV in the background for your holding) while storage fees for a vault are flat. Thus, for small amounts of silver PSLV might be better. But for serious holdings, you want physical.

Junk silver should be your go-to for fractional use. Not only is it more convenient to carry around in the amounts you would need for day-to-day use, but people recognize and trust it as legitimate coinage.

You theoretically could divide larger coins or bars but it would be more practical to use them for larger purchases (or trade them for an equivalent value of smaller bars or junk silver in a SHTF scenario, like you would break a $100 bill or something)

SLV is the ticker symbol for an exchange traded fund run by JP Morgan whose price action is mirroring the spot price which is determined by the futures market aka the comex. I don't think it's possible that the ETF, SLV will stop mirroring the spot price, since the people running SLV can add or subtract shares whenever they like and it is to their benefit to maintain the illusion that buying SLV is just like buying real silver.
I think it is possible that the prices people have to pay to get physical silver in their own possession could dissociate from the spot price on the comex / futures market. It could happen when the comex is not able to supply all the buyers who want to take physical delivery at the price they set because the silver is just not available. At that point people will stop using the comex price because it will become obvious that it is too low. For a short period, anybody that is willing to sell will be able to charge almost whatever they want because some people will be willing to pay it because they need that silver to make an iPhone or a solar panel for example. At that point the price of real silver will necessarily skyrocket.

>but again why would I get minted coins over ingots

Because of ease of identification and market popularity. ASEs and Maple Leaves are extremely recognizable, also difficult (but not impossible) to counterfeit, so they're more trusted. Same with other countries' coins, but they might not fetch as high of a premium because they're less desirable. YMMW obviously if you're outside North America.

My personal strategy was to invest 1/3rd of my stack into minted coins and the rest into bars. You spend less money on premiums with bars, and having enough minted coins to easily trade or liquidate as needed is good insurance. My bars are also from the RCM which gives them some credibility.

You can buy generic rounds, but make sure they're stamped with .999 on the bar. Again, it could be counterfeited easily, but gives it a better sense of credibility.

Wrong place pal, unless you buy mining companies as they're undervalued and before the moon mission.

Kek, nice

Good evening anons,

There have been a lot of Precious metals/silver threads on /pol/ recently but that place is full of retards so I thought I'd ask you guys what's going on. I know the basics of PMs and have some investment experience myself. Anyway from what I can gather:
>Due to (((central banking))) and other financial fuckery, the values of PMs are lower than what they should be
>Due to economic instability, a correction will come sometime around when hyperinflation hits/the debt bubble pops
>Silver is under-valued more than gold, ergo that's what I should focus on investing in

My questions are:
>How much longer until hyperinflation hits?
>Some schizos are claiming that PMs will actually drop in value soon, does that opinion hold any weight?
>junk silver or silver bars/rounds?

Thank you in advance.

Britannias are CGT-free. If silver goes to £1000, will it really matter that you paid 20% VAT if you don't have to pay CGT on a 40x gain? You can avoid paying VAT however by getting PSLV, or by buying allocated overseas bullion on e. g. BullionVault, GoldMoney or Kinesis. Or simply buy mining stocks which are refusing to supply the COMEX with silver, e. g. by joining the short squeeze on AG (First Majestic Silver).

>> No.27178863

>How much longer until hyperinflation hits?

Nobody really knows, nobody can predict if hyperinflation will ever hit (it has a specific definition), but inflation will hit and will hit bigly. It was up to 15% back in the 1970s, but they hadn't started to fire up the printing presses as they did over the last 12 years. Money supply is up something like 35% since April 2020, whereas velocity is down significantly because people are locked at home. When they're no longer locked down (if that ever happens) and money starts circulating, that's when the real shit happens

>Some schizos are claiming that PMs will actually drop in value soon, does that opinion hold any weight?

Possibly due to market manipulation, Gold & Silver could dip in prices as the world starts to wind down from the pandemic, economies reopen, etc. But since you're here from /pol/ I imagine you don't really believe we'll ever go back to a true normal, and the untold millions of people fucked over by this won't really get back on their feet for years to come. Who knows, maybe we'll be in a permanent state of pandemic forever.

Gold/Silver are typically inversely correlated with the DXY or the strength of the dollar. If it strengthens, PMs dip. If it weakens, PMs rise. The industrial uses for silver are increasing though, especially in the hunt for electrification of the vehicle fleet.

Why do you think Elon Musk has tweeted about every meme stock like GME, AMC or Dogecoin but has remained awfully silent about Silver?

>junk silver or silver bars/rounds?

Yes, but physical silver doesn't have the same liquidity that stocks, crypto and ETFs do. Maybe silver moons to $50, and you rush to the local coin shop to realize your gains by dumping 10000 oz of silver on them and they could just refuse.

If you want to make immediate gains and realize them quickly look at the backed ETFs, which will invariably go up as the price of real silver goes up.

Coins - usually produced by government mints like US Mint, Royal Canadian etc.

Rounds - Usually by private mints like Asahi, etc. Lots of bullion companies print their own.

From the US Mint:

"American Eagle Silver Bullion Coins are affordable investments, beautiful collectibles, thoughtful gifts and memorable incentives or rewards. Above all, as legal tender, they’re the only silver bullion coins whose weight and purity are guaranteed by the United States Government. They’re also the only silver coins allowed in an IRA."

Fun fact that I've learned, and would like confirmation from other anons -

If you're in a situation where you have to dip out of the country and need a way to get around the >$10,000 limit reporting that most countries impose on currency, you would not declare the Silver or Gold value of the coin, but the actual face value. Silver Eagles are $1, and Gold eagles are $25.
So you could waltz across the border with $800k worth of Gold in coins, sell them at your destination and live like a king.

By the way for those long on First Majestic they have their own bullion store.

Wouldn't really help with the squeeze because they DON'T supply the Comex, but it's like paying yourself back if you're a bagholder.

Hello from at least the year 2060. Did Barron Trump win Re-election against a banana or did the banana pull in record numbers of votes from intelligent apes connected to Neural Link?

The first probe headed to 16 Psyche won't make it there until at least 2026. SpaceX took 18 years since its inception to put the first astronauts in space. They had dozens of failed tests before perfecting their self-landing boosters.

The FUD of asteroid mining is hilarious because it is simply not viable in our life time. For starters you will need to dislodge the 16th largest object in the solar system from its orbit around the Asteroid belt to send it barreling towards stable Earth orbit. You will require a sizable amount of fuel. That by itself could take decades and multiple trips around the Sun until we manage to put it close enough to Earth that we could start mining it.

Once we have the technology for a space elevator, we will have had the technology to make Silver obsolete as a conductor for many decades, so not my concern, or my children's concern.

I took a job at a laundry mat while in college, after about 1 year there the owner trusted me enough to empty out the machines on the weekend.

Soon learned that just grabbing a handful of quarters and looking at the edges I could find the silver ones.. In 3 years I collected about 200$ worth of silver quarters..

One day the owner comes in and sees me searching and asks whats that all about.. I tell him and he laughs and says he used to search for them as well but just sends them to the bank now ( weekly deposits were about 7000$ in quarters, which were weighed and put in canvas bags for the bank) Right before I left he gave me my bonus that was 1000$ in silver quarters, told me if I became a bigshot engineer to find him and buy him out so he could retire next to a casino in Lake Charles..

I did go back about 4 years ago but he died and his kids sold the laundromat to someone else...

I still have those 2 ammo cans of silver quarters under the bed..

Ok, and?
I get what you're saying, that when faith in fiat declines, purchase of PMs increase, but what is the scenario that you're thinking off after that?
If silver is going up, it means fiat is useless. If fiat is usless, there's no point selling the silver for fiat. What do you then do what the silver? Are you envisaging a scenario where current society collapses? If so, why would silver or gold coins have any use at all? A collapse in current society is cataclysmic, it won't return us to the 17th century monetary systems, it will send us back to bartering, theft and murder.
I just don't see how then this can be considered an "investment". Return is only possible, and is a remote possibility, if civilization collapses

Remarkable that people are so indoctrinated that they believe this. That society would actually collapse into looking like a Fallout game if fiat money and banks weren't here. By the way, in the Weimar hyperinflation, you could buy a mansion for five ounces of gold.
