In order to buy/sell options you have to place limit orders, as opposed to market orders which are the default for stock purchases. If you place an order to sell a call it will by default place the order at the top of the offers. You have to manually set the limit price way below the highest bid in order to get filled immediately.

what this guy said. this happens to trading noobs. you can't just hit the magic sell button. you need to look at the market and choose a sell price. market selling options on RH isn't just a warning that you won't get filled, but chances are you won't at all.

If you want to get rid of it, you can just set the sell limit way below the bid offers. It'll then fill the order with the highest bid available, and that's almost instantly.

You might lose a few bucks, or maybe a dozen, but it's worth it if you want to exit.
