So do you guys actually use cold wallets? Or is it a meme?

>> No.27144409

of course, you'd be retarded to do anything else if you have significant cash in crypto
>inb4 hardware wallets
fuck off

>> No.27144469

its a meme, and 100% of the time fucks its owner instead of doing what its designed to do

I'm not reddit but I did only buy BTC in November.

You have to keep loading the coolant into the hardware wallets though. Other than that you don't need to save the seed phrase for cold wallets. So it's whichever you like.

>> No.27144938

Yes but only in winter

>hardware wallet
your private data is leaked
you introduce trust (the hardware manufacturers, the chain of sellers) into something that should be trustless

>cold wallet
absolutely zero risk if done properly
anonymous
futureproof

If you did some critical thinking then you'd realise that there's live wallets that can be seen on Etherscan that hold millions in them so if them wallets are online then why worry about your 10k.

>> No.27145337

I have the seed on a keePass file backed up on multiple places, the password is a gigantic poem that I know by heart and can easily find online if I ever forget it(you can use song lyrics too).
The password is only ever typed on a notebook that exists for that sole purpose only. That's the notebook I use for trading crypto, but I don't access ANYTHING else with it

>> No.27145405

>>27145185
you're asking something unrelated to cold wallets
no matter what you choose, hardware wallet, cold wallet, software wallet, online wallet... if you're the sole custodian, you should never keep your seed phrase in just one place

Buy Ledger on Amazon for msrp arrives next morning. No leak. Didn't even buy mine under my name.

did you literally just google image search for cold wallet and post the result here
kek
no it's not a meme
memorize your seed phrase or store it safely where no one else knows in a place where you can protect it.

You can buy the coolant in bulk to save money. It doesn't go bad.

I've had my btc on coinbase for five years. Nothing has ever happened to it. A multibillion dollar company has way better security than me buying some $100 USB bullshit. It's a meme. Unless you're an ultra paranoid goldbug type that enjoys the thrill of storing it yourself, in that case go for it. But the MtGox, BTC-e, Cryptsy days are long gone. Storing your own keys is a remnant from that era, but it's no longer applicable.

If you can only afford a piece of paper, maybe crypto is not for you.

My way is downloading TailsOS, once that started up download Exodus open the text editor and copy paste your private & public key. Press the button Encrypt (PGP) and voila you're done. Easy AF, and safe as hell. Can keep it online or on paper encrypted.

There is no inherent connection between cryptography and electronics. Dunno why you are seething this hard over the simple fact that paper (or metal or w/e) is more robust than NAND memory.

Asking the same question. I also would like to know if TrustWallet or Exodus are good.
