Let's get a comfy degrees/careers thread going. I have a bsc in comp sci and work as a dev and it's making me want to die every day. I want to go into the sciences like chemistry or physics or pharmacology but I keep hearing there's no jobs or I'll be a lab rat forever. Ideally I'd like to do specialized research of some kind. Share your thoughts and careers bros, I'm especially interested to hear from any scientists or academics.

depends on the month, i just wait for some extremely specific and high profit ratio signal and then open a leveraged trade with a tight stop. the point is that even if you have let's say 20k and use 5x leverage, you can easily ride a correction for like 2% and you are already comfy for the whole month. the more money you have the better, but you get the point

Auditing also seems decent desu. Maybe it requires more of a brain than discipline and staying power per hour in the job.

I'm doing a psychology degree, got into it for the meme of wanting to be a therapist but hate the actually psychology modules, a good chunk of it is quantitative research and statistics, can I go into stats with a psych degree do you know?

If you're in Belgium they'll do jack shit if you break the contract.

They won't be eager to switch you. They know it's hard to get good people in global mobility because of the exit opportunities.

Apply at the other 3 firms to get into corporate tax or accounting. Do not mention you already signed a contract but are looking for something better. They do not like that.

If you're in Belgium Bdo is still good enough as a tier 2 firm to have a solid career btw.

I’m a CPA. Don’t fucking go into accounting. It’s a miserable fucking career. I have suicidal thoughts at least once a day. And it’s all career-related. I wish I had just gone into corporate finance and worked in FP&A instead.

No, lmao. No one is going to hire someone with a psychology degree for a statistics based job. I hate to be cruel, but you fucked up. My best friend got a bachelors in psychology and had to go back and get a masters in computer science because the prospects with a psychology degree are so abysmal.

The best chances for a psych degree are getting a phd and doing what you originally wanted, working in HR, or being a teacher. You could also manage if you can get an in at some technical job. Then everyone would probably ignore your major and focus on your prior experience.

You just don’t want to do it. Busy seasons are miserable. I put in 100 hour weeks while in public. Industry hasn’t been much better. I’m still putting in ridiculous hours. There are lots of internal and statutory deadlines that are simply unrealistic. You can expect tons of last-minute fire drills if something is wrong or an update needs to be made.

Hope you're still here. If you like the work at SBB and they offer you a contract, take it.
It's a very good experience. You learn alot about multiple things in a short period of time.
If you do global mobility all you're gonna learn is that one circulaire from august '83 (buitenlandse kaderleden).
SBB is more of a national firm though, not a tier 2. (RSM, GT, Mazars,...)
With the experience you get at SBB you can exit to multiple local firms if you want. It's not that hard to become partner there in your early or mid 30's. Very comfy.

The only possibility to work at the top law firms is to move to the capital. Instead, I would like an option to get out of here and prospectively pursue education in MBA or Economics/Finance abroad.
