Yup. And then it traditionally comes back into: Some stocks (you won't be able to know which ones will collapse completely and hold the right ones) and gold. So if you're holding gold through a crash, you're good. You won't make a killing, because it will only go back up where it was, you only make a killing if you are actually in cash before the crash and buy the gold at super sale. The same with the stocks that survive. If you want to try to swing the crash, that is sell just before and buy back at the bottom, you can try, but the more time and money you put into that project the better an understanding you will gain for why this is a very poor strategy. You won't be able to predict the next crash. And if you actually try it will only happen the minute after you gave up.
These days, we also have crypto. Alts are like stocks here, you might get lucky but many won't really survive a crash (by recovering after). Bitcoin, however, is like gold. It will come back after the crash, so if you are sitting on bitcoin just relax in a crash, perhaps sell some of your other assets as fast as you can to buy some more BTC at the bottom, and then just watch it bounce back together with gold. Well, probably together with gold. There will come a day when the market crashes and Bitcoin bounces back like a champ but gold doesn't.
