Stock markets also have the concept of "lag". There is a queue for people buying and selling. First come first serve.

So the people who are closes to the server will have their orders filled first. On top of that, they have algos that trigger faster than you can click buy. On top of that, they get their info faster than you get from Yahoo or trading view.

So when you saw it was 115 and you hit buy, there might have been 1000 joes infront of you queuing to buy as well. When it got to your turn, the price was already at 210. And since you did a market order which is buy a share at ANY price. You got your order filled at 210.

A lot of the brokerages yesterday are either owned by hedge funds or have vested interests in seeing GME crash and burn. Some probably only turned around because halting buying was illegal and the political sphere is getting massively involved.
