I love my local AMC theatre. The staff are so nice and I go there every weekend to watch the new movie. Often I buy 3 tickets so I can save the seats beside me so I can enjoy the movie in peace alone. Yeah pretty much, except each option contract comes in the form of like 100 shares. So if you buy a Call for $5 stock price on some company and the stock price drops 2 dollars, you have to buy 100 shares for $500 instead of just paying the $300 its worth.
Since the amount of money you can lose is potentially infinite it can be pretty risky and there are all sorts of pitfalls like time to expiration and the cost for each contract and stuff. If you want to do options trading actually do some research or you will lose way more money than you would just buying stocks. (speaking from experience here)
