Hedge funds don't trade their own money, dude. They trade institutional money, like universities and other orgs that need to invest a large amount of money with a small amount of risk. These aren't cokeheads with lambos trying to gamble on the markets, that's just the guys running the hedge fund. The organizations that actually invested their money to a hedge fund for safekeeping will probably lose a large amount of their holdings/income at the end of all this. It's not even like the hedge fund did a risky thing; they shorted the stock of a company that is likely to die within a year.
