If you are a HIGHLY SKILLED worker (e.g. doctor) the USA is the best country on the planet to live in by a huge, huge margin. I work for a german car company and work in the us. The German equivalents if me (senior engineer) make half what I make. And they live in shoebox apartments. They were shocked when I told them I was buying a 5 BR house.

I think the best option for most Americans as an exit strategy is Australia. It's a total police state, but the racial demographic outlook is positive compared to Europe and the US. And they speak English at least.
