Buy a farm/ranch/cottage with enough land to revenue a passive income for upkeep, insurance and taxes, 3mil. Buy enough forest that one or two people can support themselves and a family doing maintenance(this is so youngsters in your family always have a job if they need to), this will earn a nice passive income aswell, 4mil. 2mil in stocks, gold, coins, whatevs. That leaves 1mil which i would use to build three writing cottages on your land and a big fuckin library packed with classics and esoteric litterature. I would then invite random up and coming writers to come live on my land for free while they write their masterpiece. Make everything a corporation or something aswell so it wont get chopped up.
