It's like the only altcoin with a real world use case, large install base, and team with a stellar industry track record. But the price hasn't budged since 2017. What gives?

None of these things matter much for price at the moment. Crypto is all just speculation right now. Too much loose money with nowhere to go. Being tethered to some actually used real product is more of a hindrance in today's insane markets.

Also the BAT system hasn't really progressed much in the last two years, judging from the outside. Why should there be any excitement. All we can do is hope for the future. You will need a loooong time horizon if you wanna hold this coin.

The whole premise is that people will get paid pennies to watch ads and be tracked.
It’s actually the opposite - people, including me, pay subscription fees for VPN and adblockers to not see it. 2 cents are not worth watching garbage for anyone besides the poorest and brownest Pajeets in India.

Native DeFi and blockchain support? These features set decentr up to be THE crypto/defi browser for normies.
Built in VPN?
The BAT token has a shitty use case and you can't even claim rewards these days due to gas fees. The DEC token is actually backed by data so the value increases by all the users simply browsing. Also you can leverage things you buy with your data (personal data value) and use the DEC token to pay less based on how high your PDV is.

I'm not larping when I say I used to hold BAT but dumped my last bags in november for DEC.

BAT holds value because Brave has a sizeable userbase, and their ad system actually has some big buyers. American Eagle clothing is in on it. Its not just random shit like ExpressVPN and internet only companies.
Companies buy ads. Brave buys blocks of BAT. They toss a pittance of BAT to users, most of who will never do anything, so its essentially held forever. The free trading volume of BAT will slowly shrink.

Its a stable coin fundamentally. Its not going to have huge retard swings and crash to the ground like a true shitcoin. BAT could conceivably hold above 30c. 40-50c would theoretically be possible but thats a long way off and would require engagement in BAT systems to double. Impossible? No, but I wouldn't count on it. Its hard to keep people on certain platforms without massive normie pull, and Brave devs have shown in the past that they can be as insidious as the rest of SV with harmful features.

On Brave you get a text pop up on the bottom corner of the screen. It'll say something like "Secure email with Protonmail." and if you click that box it takes you to Protonmail.com You aren't watching videos or anything invasive.
It only gives you .1-.3 BAT per day, so its not like its some viable method of earning NEETbux or anything.

Think like a normie, what do they use to browse the internet? Their phones. What do regular mobile browsers lack? Adblockers. Google Chrome on Android doesn't support extensions so you can't download ublock origin or adblock plus for it. Brave has native adblocking that works well and it's easy to migrate all your data from chrome to brave so the switch is easily made.
