Question for ACTUAL experienced options veterans:
How reliable is "the wheel"? I've been trading options for a while: calls, puts, spreads, condors-- you name it. (havent found them to be very reliable for income yet) now that ive finally got enough money I've started selling cash covered puts. Frankly, it seems too good to be true. something like 1% a week? why isnt everyone doing this? Ive got around 40k that I have never touched for trading but now im thinking I should start running the wheel with it. any tips? also from a tax perspective, is it better to avoid assignment? I'm also waiting on a 10,000 student loan that I took out as a "biden debt forgiveness insurance policy" thinking of wheeling that too. of course I want to yolo it onto GME but ive already lost enough money like that. I like to do ITM buy-writes (covered calls) on meme stocks.
When vola gets stupidly high, puts are lucrative too. GME $20 puts are paying big time right now and that's basically risk free, because if it dumps to $15 you can turn it around for covered calls. Premiums are going to stay high for months now.

I like the idea of that but I dont want to be exposed to the chance of a 100% loss. Ideally once I get more money ill start wheeling ETFs to reduce my risk further. But I might try this. can you spoonfeed me a little? for the long call would you just buy the deepest ITM and furthest out possible? then sell short calls against it, in the weekly range? what happens if the short calls go ITM? dont they have more leverage thus making it into a bearish position?

I dont mind tying up capitol or having low gains. 1% a week seems like a shit ton to me compared to 2% a year from a dividend fund. and yes I know you can 3x your money overnight with the right calls pretty often but I these savings are not something I can risk like that. it sounds like im not taking much of a risk by doing this. or at least no further risk than simply buying the underlying. any stories or imput is appreciated it still seems to good to be true even with these downsides
