defi - decentralized finance: Wall st bullshit, but without wall street.

dex (decentralized exchange, compared to a centralized exchange) or amm (automated market maker) - Uniswap, the terms are different, but essentially they do the same thing, an exchange that works by smart contracts.
How the AMM works is where a lot of this BS comes in: it does a bunch of math to price the assets, and works by getting a giant pool of crypto. You can add more crypto and take a small cut of the trade proportional to how much you have in the giant pot.
This share is where the liquidity tokens come from.
The idea why you stake these Liquidity tokens with a website to get their crypto is that they are giving you whatever their crypto, and they are taking your share of the small cut from uniswap.
Doing it in this way is considered a "fair launch" because it lets anyone (read: Whales) make fat stacks instead of the dev pre-mining or just giving themselves a bunch of tokens.

THAT BEING SAID, almost all defi shit is a ponzi, and unless you are throwing a stack of 1k+ or it 10x's you aren't making money farming this shit, because it will get eaten by gas costs. Better to buy and hold.

Considering that 95% of it is paid out, daily, for three years certainly doesn’t sound appealing but you also don’t have to worry about a massive dump to zero. This all depends on what the price of this will look like down the road. xDAI integration will help ameliorate staking fees moving forward. This project really isn’t for people looking to flip shitcoins because that’s only really profitable if you got a big enough of a stack to not worry about peak gas fees eating into your profits.
