Easiest way without me even knowing is to use the gift card for another expense you would have had anyways.

I'd just buy groceries or something with it, then send that amount from my regular bank account over to an exchange.

Use gift card in Venmo. Transfer $$$ to a trusted third party. Have them send it back to you. You'll lose some in the transaction but better than nothing. Alternatively, sell it to someone IRL

This is a major pain in the ass. Next time I have a friend I don't particularly like I'm giving him one of these.
