What book does /biz/ recommend for an absolute beginner in investing? And I'm not talking about the philosophy of investing, I mean near fucking instructional manuals. A book that explains what the fuck a market cap is, what it means, what happens if it's low and high and more shit like that. There has to be a book out there that will make you AT LEAST somewhat proficient if studied and applied.

I recommend you go watch a couple presentations by Sergey Nazarov, Vitalik, and read some info about how BTC works instead of trying to learn from an *investing* book made by someone who is profiting by selling books not investing.

Also Talib has good books.

Okay, if you can answer this question, I'll deem you worthy of this esoteric knowledge that is investing.

Pick up an old corporate finance textbook. In college, that was the class that taught me about finance.

>> No.26417414

I've made a x 3, x4 and a x10 so far. Two stock picks, one crypto. Never read a single investing book. My tactic basically consists entirely of research and gut feeling with some minimal basic TA.

1. I'll start iwth browsing and narrow down to a few choices I'd like to look further into
2. I'll research those options, who the management team is, what is they product. if the product isnt complete nonsense and fits the geo-historical situation i'll research key people involved and their history. if the management team has a shady past or seem like typical corporate bullshitters, chances are nothing will come of it
3. I'll research the "hivemind" opinion about that option ie are normies high on it, are schizos high on it, are bullshitters high on it, you can usually get the correct value of your pick by contrasting what people think of it and what kind of the people they are. usually shizos and deplorables are correct and people in ties, overly correct grammar who use a lot of technical words and have big followings are almost always wrong or mediocre in their opinion
4, Then I'll do some basic TA just to make sure im not buying at the top
5. If the gut feeling, opinion of schizos, management team and product, and TA match then I'll buy it.
6. I'll sell based on some basic TA indicators and gut feeling where I think the risk of gaining more is not worth what you'd gain by selling

I should add I've never read a balance sheet in my life. My main interests are theology, philosophy and history but I got into this as something that wouldn't take a lot of time and would give me some side-income. I'm a little sceptical about it in that it seems almost too easy if you just do your research.

The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham. The Black Swan by Nassim Taleb next and finish off with The Scapegoat by René Girard.

The last one is philosophical but you understand how human nature works and once you understand, the world is your oyster.

For blogs, I’d highly recommend Joshua Kennon.

What do you think about binary projects? Do you know any good one on the blockchain? Found Baexdefi (#baex), a lot of options, fiat, crypto, stock indices. I'm interested in their referral program, looks like a good opportunity to get passive income for your wallet. blockchain open-source code can be safe imo
