What is Barnbridge?

Barnbridge are developing complex structured derivatives on blockchain. This is a massive space in TradFi, worth trillions across collateralised debt oblgiations, asset backed securities as well as structured products on indices and equities.

Examples in DeFi include

-Classic stablecoin interest tranches. Imagine tranching aave interest into a senior tranche, earning a guaranteed lower percentage and a junior tranche earning a higher on average but volatile interest rate from aave deposits
-Eth staking pays 10%. Imagine breaking this down into a senior tranche which only earns 5%, but has less exposure to ethereum if it drops more than 25%, and a Junior tranche that earns 15% but assumes more downside if ethereum drops a lot
-A uniswap or sushiswap yield farming pair, where a senior tranche earns less interest but has no impermanent loss risk, and a junior tranche that earns more interest but is more exposed to impermanent loss

There are many more possibilities and the possibility of marketing products to TradFi is enormous. Again, multi trillion dollar industry IRL.

It in my opinion is under the radar right now but is going to be one of the biggest new DeFi protocols this year. They're building a new product with many use cases and institutional appeal, and the calibre of the people working with them is amazing (Aave and Synthetix founders are advisors and investors, twitter thread by Kain in OP is a good one)
