Pretty much. Payment coins are a race to zero margin because you can always get an edge by centralizing more than your competitors, and smart contact platforms are constant honeypots of shitty copy pasted code that are expensive to run on shitty unscalable blockchains.
Creating an expensive yet extremely hard to attack, secure, digital bearer instrument that can store value is one of the only legitimate uses of this inherently unscalable technology

Bitcoin just isn't safe for large companies to move around since there is no authority to safeguard it if shit happens. Likewise, you can't just seize a debtor's coins since it depends on actually having the physical thing where the coins are stored.
