My brother tried selling online courses, lost all his money. Then he tried selling phone cases, lost all his money. It's a meme unless you REALLY know what you're fucking doing

It's not exactly a scam, but only a small percentage of dropshippers are successful. You have to be prepared and committed, have a knack for marketing and branding, and have some luck. Shopify, Oberlo, Aliexpress et. al. make a killing off of the 98% or so of people who try, sink a few hundred dollars in, and quit.

It can be useful as a bridge between getting started and actually having inventory of your own. A lot of people describe it as doable but not sustainable. A lot will come down to how well you do with ads on google and Facebook. YMMV, caveat emptor, godspeed and good luck.

Most new small businesses fail to earn money.
If it were very easy to go into business for yourself and have it pay nobody would be working at traditional jobs.

Other posters here are on point. OH AND ONE MORE THING.

If you do this, get business insurance. The amount of people on r/dropshipping who just give the text equivalent of a blank stare when I mention business insurance makes me very sad.

Not a scam, but incredibly unlikely to make you any amount of money. Think about it anon, if it's being shilled to normies 24/7 and everyone and their mother knows about it, how profitable can it really be?
