How many scams last longer than a few weeks/months though?

Many scams operate in USD. Every currency harbors scams, so I don't see that as a big deal.

A combination of all the factors you gave I guess, mostly size. I guess it's best defined by how strongly, and how much of the general public thinks crypto is going to change the world(like they did during the dot com bubble). A slower growth would be more ideal for this so the general public doesn't think it's a bubble and there's more time for it to spread.
