probably a Switch Pro this year
speculation is on whether they can break out of the cyclical nature
Like some people are hoping they end up as Disney 2.0 but I'm skeptical on that

Growing recurring revenue mid-cycle from all the DLC and paid online is what I'd be more focused on. Their valuation is pretty reasonable if they can successfully transition, their stock price was growing organically with sales (albeit still probably because of the covid boom)
Like does anyone still give a shit that paid online with Nintendo is a thing? Seems like the backlash from Nintendo switching to all these shit /v/ hates is pretty much gone years later

Then the traders trade bullshit that crabs forever and has little potential upside like blue chips while they ignore or dismiss growth stocks. That's why Cathie is killing it. Memes aren't the perfect picks either but at least they tend to have strong potential upside.

Given its current market cap I'd say +100% tops, which isn't terrible but it's still only 15% a year over 5 years. There are things that will grow a lot more than this. AMD was a good play from 2016 to 2020, now not so much. It's still a good stock if you can live with the way it behaves short term, there are just better things to pick.

conventional wisdom and history shows that active funds get outperformed by indexes...but we're also entering into a weird point where active funds in general are going through a rebirth. I listened to a compelling argument that an active fund may not outperform SPY but it can move differently and give you an opp to have a different strategy. I agree that ARK funds are the only ones of interest right now though.

However, plenty of index funds not actively managed kick the shit out of SPY in short to mid terms so keep your eyes peeled. (ICLN)

i mean it's just risk vs. reward. SPY is the safe option, but QQQ is super safe too if you ask me. no one is going to lose money holding QQQ. just make sure you're buying QQQ and not TQQQ, as the latter is leveraged and will likely see a 99% drawdown in the coming decades. honestly, taking a little bit of time to invest in stocks is not very intensive. you just have to buy big companies when they're really low and then hold.

I think that' is what's happening with GME too *if Cohen proves to be legit*, but there's no harm in taking profit and buying back in later. Timing shouldn't matter in the end if long-term proves itself, but you sure can stay on the side-lines short-term if you think people are getting too irrational

if the stock has a low P/E ratio then there's probably something wrong with it, e.g. tons of debt, stale or negative growth
if it has a high P/E ratio, it's either overhyped or its growths are so good that people are willing to pay a premium for it

like a "low" P/E ratio of 10 is absolutely garbage for something with no growth, at best it might be an income play for rich people who want to diversify outside of growth stocks, but lol no one in /smg/ fits in to this category

The difference is that with options trading you don't actually own the stock, so there's a risk that your option could expire worthless. Like if you buy a Call option because you think price will go up, but it actually going down then the price you paid for the Option will be your loss.

Compared to owning shares outright, if the price falls you still own the share so you can recoup some of the loss or wait if it rises again.
