Does anyone know if staking GRT fucks up claiming long-term cap gains for USA fags?

For example - 100k GRT in coinbase wallet. Send 100k to metamask, stake 100k (end up with 99,500 after burn). Stake for 5 months, un-delegate and wait for freeze to expire, tokens go back to metamask, then back to coinbase. Was any of this a taxable event?

I know that the additional GRT would be taxed at full value (short term cap gains rate), but what about the initial 100k? Does all this transferring in and out fuck up the long-term cap gains rate if you are holding for > 1 year?

I just followed this guide. I made a metamask account to do so, there’s also like 5 pajeet YouTube videos walking you through it. That was my first time paying gas fees, and they were insane. Still worth it tho, good luck!

Coinbase will report it as a "distribution". That said, You can demonstrate that the asset never left your custody in a sale. You have simply moved the asset to different network storage. The IRS will definitely consider it a taxable event that could show was not. That burden is on you, but I'm sure they would be resonable abouti t if you attached the information to your Schedule D.
This is not finacial advice and you should recruit the advise of an accounting professional on the best way to handle it in your situation.

Never sell. Delegate. If it takes off, you can live like a king on the rewards alone, which could be taken 6 times per year. Don't try to juggle it on an exchange. Stake and be patient. The 28 day waiting period will keep you from selling at every dip. I don't think most have realized the earning potential of this token. 10,000 is a make it stack if all goes well.

They'd have a hell of a time catching up to the graph.
Graph has a 3 year head start and is already the backbone of defi, being used by the biggest names in the industry.
Any competition would have a nearly impossible time of getting a big name to move away from the graph, especially when it's already battle tested, trusted, and is reliable and dependable.

The graph is the standard.
It has a complete monopoly on indexing data.

The chances of there being any competition... ever.... are slim to none.
They're that far ahead.

in 2 to 3 years graph will be another 2 to 3 years along in advancement. At that point they will have integrated with all top L1 blockchains and have hundreds of thousands, if not milliions of dapps running on top of it's protocol.
Graph is already being used by the biggest names in crypto for querying blockchain.
It is the standard.
In just 3 years it has become the standard and the backbone of defi.
