Understand that at 1 million you can easily diversify your holdings into 1) BTC investments (when it dumps back to 20k obviously) 2) altcoins 3) your memejob on shopify 4) possibly a real job (doesn't require investment) 5) blue chip stocks that always go up, over time

When you have the equivalent of what the average boomer has at the age of 60 but you're only like 33, you can easily turn that into 10 million by the time you're 60 and ride off into the sunset at 70 with 50 million and a real 'retirement' having sex with your 30yo chechen tatar wife who makes traditional hlaktes and raises your children to praise the one true prophet (PBUH) before you mysteriously have a heart attack while pumping her full of your old man dick.

OK so the average burger makes about ~50k per year
you need at least ~70 years
that's about 3,5 mil.
In the country though, you propably need 1/3 or a quarter of that
also, inflation so you need to invest it in something
which will give you at least ~2% a year, if you're at least a bit smart or invest in crypto, that would be a lot more

so, yes it more or less is enough, assuming a) you don't live in a city and b) are smart enough to invest your money well

There's no such thing as 'retire' there's just becoming a full time investor, lets say you can make on average a return of 3% per year and each year you sell your capital gains tax allowance of £12,500 to live off (move somewhere with cheap rent) you can give up waging easily if you have £1,000,000. If I had that much I would be buying gold/silver mining stocks and agricultural stocks in preparation for the future so I'd be making a lot more than 3% per year

In 10 years:

0 £1,000,000.00
1 £1,017,125.00
2 £1,034,763.75
3 £1,052,931.66
4 £1,071,644.61

Low IQ take.
It doesn't matter whether YOU want to consume endlessly or not. The mechanisms to make people spend instead of save aren't something you choose to live under. Most obvious one is the Federal Reserve's maintenance of inflation rate. You can be more into saving than spending all you want but that won't change how sitting on cash in an inflationary context will mean you're losing wealth as each dollar you hold becomes less valuable over time.
If you still have 50 years of living left your initial $1,000,000 will become closer to $176,000 in real value terms over that span of cumulative inflation (and that's best case scenario where inflation just continues at the rate it's been moving at; could be mich worse if US loses world reserve currency privileges and Zimbabwe hyperinflation kicks in). And of course that's only how much your wealth will disintegrate if you spend 0% of it in 50 years. Since you're talking about using it in place of an income then you're going to bleed out savings at a much faster rate.

So first rule, your annual income will be 4% of whatever is in your retirement. So $1mil is $40k/year. If you live in LA, NYC, SF, etc., yea that sucks. UNLESS you own your property. Then it’s doable.

A lot of you have good ambition for crazy money but maybe you’re also cum-brained from watching Wolf of Wallstreet or Selling Sunset or even browsing business influencer striver accounts on Instagram. I like nice shit but honestly I think about the things millions can buy and I see myself living more of an alienated life as a result. Really think through what you want and what you think you want. Avoid copes. Personally I’d learn to be happy with less. If you want a ton of money you can’t do it through one stream of revenue unless you’re just an absolutely talented trader. You’ll need to be very entrepreneurial which is completely possible but requires a lot of time (I’m NOT saying hard work, which is a meme).

You might be able to retire ----->N O W<----- on 8-15 rental properties which are insured to the maximum and an additional several million dollars of current valuations in dividend paying ETFs, REITS and bonds.

Inflation will only eat your cash away.

For example, I expect that in 2021 the "making it" entry level is at $50 to $70 million diversified in assets, not cash.

5% of 500k = 25k
average cost of living for comfy expat bachelor in Bangkok is like 1k per month, 2k puts you in really top comfy tier (new condo, private gym/pool, maid, dining out, deliveries, beach trips, healthcare, new pusy every night etc) but for how long? It's developing rapidly and prices keep rising quickly over there.
I think you'd need at least 1M to be comfy for sure or if you want kids, private schools etc.

>protect money against inflation
There's no zero risk way to do that anymore. Buying hundreds of thousands of dollars worth in gold would probably mean you need to have some bank store it and would also need to pay them to do this. Bitcoin is too unstable / new to trust long term and anyone who can sleep at night with half their life savings post-retirement held in BTC is an idiot. Used to be bonds you would do this sort of inflation avoidance with but now bonds offer less interest than the inflation rate. Real estate is the other obvious approach bu that's obviously not zero risk either when the government can declare you must keep non-paying tenants without evicting them because everyone's super-scared about the common cold AKA COVID-19. Blue chip stocks might be the safest bet but that'll probably screw you over too when the next crash happens. Index fund would be slightly less risky but not by much since they'll be weighted towards the largest cap stocks and will still go down too for some unknown timespan during those crash years. And none of this even gets into the less expected more extreme possibilities like the American government full on collapsing USSR style.

I could live with only R$600 each month if I gave up everything, no internet, no gym, no whores, no drinking night with friends, just staying in bed all day looking at the ceiling and eating bland food.

But if you want to actually enjoy life, 500k is the minimum to even try, I have that amount already thanks to link and I'm still waging, because I can already see how tight living with 500k would be.

>this many retards thinking that a good house is less than 1m
Unless you wish to live in a shack in Nebraska, you need at least 3m for a decent house, and another 1m to live comfortably

if $2m isn't enough for you to retire on then you're probably a hedonist and/or degenerate gambler who is therefore NGMI

I live in Burgerland and I could unironically retire on 200k. I was a NEET for 5 years and survived on literally just $15,000. If you don't spend your money like a retarded consoomer, than you don't need one fucking million lmao

Wait till you see the prices of a brand new boat xd Building a boat takes a shit-ton of time, materials and skills, so for most people that value time over money it's a nobrainer to buy one. If you know where to look you can find boats 5-10 times cheaper than a new one and with no major problems.

I plan to retire at 1mil AUD. Build a decent size house with a few luxuries for half a mil in a nice enough place somewhere down Victoria, away from the heat. Maybe New Zealand honestly, it's easy enough to do as an Australian. Rest I'll have in staking of some sort, XSN nodes or maybe even LINK staking if that works out. My portfolio is a 10x away from an even mil atm, bullrun means I should make it. Also fuck taxes and fuck this kike government.

You people are fucking retarded honestly. 99% of humans on this earth in their entire lifetimes won’t ever even see 100K. If we adjust this for the first world, the only part of the world that matters, 3 million is a pretty conservative estimate.

Unless you’re buying multiple Lamborghini’s, multiple houses at 300K each, paying for high class hookers, and feeding a drug addiction... you realistically don’t need anymore than like 5K per month. Which is perfectly doable if you collect like 1-2 million, put that shit in a high yield CD, and live in a nice neighborhood away from black people.

Anything more than 3M is just greed, consumerism, and retardation. Most people here are teenagers and think that unless you live like a rapper you aren’t living. For the adults, 3M is enough.

I only come to this board for /smg/ and /pmg/ so it never struck me quite how retardedly moronic and out of touch the rest of this board is. The average age in shitcoin threads must be 15 or something.
