Its important to have a structured metaphysical system about your beliefs, otherwise you just traverse into mysticism which gives you little to no grounding.

All traditions have an esoteric (internal beliefs/experience) and exoteric (laws/how to conduct ones self). E.g. For Daoism you have the doctrine of the Dao as the esoteric component, and Confucianism as the exoteric (laws).

Find a tradition that you have an affinity towards, or one you were possibly raised as (initiated). Most traditions require some sort of initiation. So if you grew up a christian, or have christian family then that should be the tradition of choice although it doesnt have to be. Eastern traditions require initiation, and usually a guru, so thats likley out of the question. This is because the transmission of existential truths require a teacher (going off general consensus). Islam is a tradition that is easily accessible aswell.

Dont get too caught up in the particulars of the tradition, they all derivatives from one primordial tradition which basically boils down to Advaita Vedanta/Neo Platonist metaphysics.

When I was 20 years old I asked God to give me trials in order to strengthen me as a person. I said " I don't care what you do to me God, just make me into a good person."

Shortly after that prayer my life got incredibly difficult. I went through a divorce. My father died. I moved to a new town to get my bachelor's degree. I got hit by a car, my parents went through a nasty divorce. I also had several smaller but significant and numerabke challenges.

I emerged from that as a strong person. A person who has sinned and made mistakes in my past, I have been a downright bastard at times. But now though, I am confident because of the things I experienced and so much better off today.

I thank you God for making my life so difficult. I thank you for holding me the entire way. I am so grateful that you are in my life. I can feel you working in my life and I am glad for it. I ask that you keep us safe and protect our nation. Our nation loves you God even though we are lost. Even though our nation is filled with sin and those who have turned from you, know that the majority in this nation loves God. I ask that this nation repent for their sins. To thank God for everything in thier life. To let God into their hearts and minds and homes. Please help us reclaim this nation in your name.
