Go on any twitter thread about someone questioning its value, and you get a ton of weirdos appearing with “stay poor nocoiner!” and “it’s the future read The Bitcoin Standard DYOR or HFSP!!!!”

Jesus man it’s just an investment why get so emotional about it???

>> No.26108405

Why this smug frog thread? If someone would have said you during the last summer that Bitcoin will hit 40k you would have made same kind of thread askin "Why are bitcoin maximalists so delusional?" and laughing at them/belittling them, even though they were right and you were wrong

You are a sad little man

I’m just curious about the psychology of it, what drives people to be so emotionally invested in this one asset in particular.

It seems BTC’s strength is neither the network effect nor its ability to usurp gold, but the sheer unwavering faith of its believers who are willing to keep pouring money into it. Works for me of course, just wondering why.

The bitcoiners who have successfully held for a lengthy amount of time did so by ignoring dummies such as yourself, and have obviously done well to do so.

It takes a lot for the network effect of something like a new type of money to be jumpstarted from the starting point of zero dollars and bringing it all the way to thirty thousand dollars. This did start with well justified libertarian views about how bitcoin is a genuinely more moral and monetary system than government fiat.

Also don't pretend that alties don't just ape characteristics of bitcoiners because they wanted to follow/replicate that success. Most alt "communities" just copied from bitcoin cargo-cult style. At best they might be described as being only superficially nicer than bitcoiners, because they feel they need a more political diplomatic stance to pump their bags. It's the niceness of disingenuous politicians though.

It's pretty obvious why. These are people with most of their net worth stored in bitcoin who have legitimate financial institutions like JP Morgan Chase (largest bank in the US) now saying it'll reach $146,000 which would send these anons into multimillionaire status.
Of course they have a huge emotional incentive to convince themselves it's going to reach this good end and let them cash out and retire in their 30s never having to wageslave again. And inversely it would be soul crushing for the price to stop where it's at or even drop down to near zero leaving them broke and now resigned to needing to live the wagecuck life working hard for peanuts until they retire at 80.

Bitcoin is like the seventh day adventist church. When the prophecy of the apocalypse (or becoming new money) failed to come to pass, they simply pivoted successfully to becoming something else (in this case, store of value gold 2.0). Of course, whenever there is unwavering faith, there’s good money to be made, so let’s be clear i am not complaining, just wondering what makes it so uniquely... faith inducing.

>> No.26108956

I didnt say “terrorist”, i said “fanatic”, there’s a big difference. There’s a pretty influential dude who was asked what he thought of btc, and he honestly just said “i dont believe it’s as valuable as some people think”, and holy shit random people from all around the world appeared to whale on that one obscure twitter thread. Got me thinking is all. For me it’s just another speculative asset in my portfolio so it was eye opening.

The religious term "immaculate conception" is a term used to describe Bitcoin, for good reason. $146,000 while amazing is only 4x from here. To be a multimillionaire you need to have put in $500,000 to $1,000,000 by now. To be able to do that means you are already comfortable enough anyway.

You can also 7x your money in GME just a few months ago, and probably 5x your money if you go all in SLB now. It’s hardly super life changing anon.

I posit to you that the number of people who held their coins from $0.01 (or even sub $100) are very very very small, and likely did so only because they forgot about their coins. For quite some time, it truly was a currency used for buying and selling anonymously, and anyone could mine their own coins (which was the original intention before the rise of super ASICS)

Most of the people heavily invested in bitcoin didn't buy in at $35K or wherever it's at now. They bought in when it was $10K, or $3K, or even just $1 or less.
