I just accepted a job offer. As we all know the housing market is crazy and despite having a decent salary for a recent grad I´ll be looking at sharing an apartment. What I wondered is that the norm these days or how do you guys do it?

Just asking since having roommates afer college would´ve been seen as kinda "weird" back where I come from, especially considering dating, e.g.

Depends on the city, in nyc people who make 200k have roommates.

Ask your finances dude. If it doesn't make sense to buy, rent.
Your giving to much thought on what others think of you and that's not how you make it.

Of course its ok. For low price you can find some decent bedroom with common space and if you have a bit luck you can meet nice people, eat, drink or play together. Its always good to talk to someone

Sometimes having roommates can be good for dating. You can meet your roommates' friends, host parties, etc. and in general get some friends for "free", as in you didn't have to leave the house to meet them. Good for your finances, too, because of rent obviously but also things like being able to share a kitchen stuff and the vacuum cleaner. Of course there is the risk that your roommates are assholes and none of the above happens.

its fine to have roommates for prob 1-2 years outside of graduation. if you're pushing 3-4 years after college still with roommates then you are off the track and need to fix it pronto. roommates can be fun and a blessing. or they can be a freaking nightmare. both will teach you well. have a plan and stick to it.

also FUCK JANNIES

If it helps you save money and you're okay dealing with other people its fine.

I make 200k a year and I split a rented house with best friend in a cheaper city. Love having a friend close and cheaper expenses.
