Have a comfy job making $150k and have 1% equity in the company & profit sharing, just got offered a job with $250k base and .1% equity and it's highly likely this company will IPO in the next 2-3 years. Both are good options. I can't bring myself to care about either. All I can think about literally every day is whether or not my crypto stack is going to allow me to retire before I blow my fucking brains out. itt discuss how you cope with the fact that you're still a wagie and might spend the rest of your life that way, I'm out of ideas.

Don’t get too impatient with your crypto, don’t buy shitcoins, stick to mainly BTC/ETH, hope you have a big enough stack to cash out $2 million or so after this bull run.

I’m a pretty low tier wagon but have 300k in crypto, if I don’t make it this bull run I’m gonna spiral into depression

wtf asshole 5 years at your gay job would net you a fucking mansion of a house. Any house really

Another 5 years you wouldn't have to pay a dime in your life. You'd have a house and saving. At that point you could work at walmart until you die.

I have ~$800k I think that makes it harder. It's like, I can taste freedom, but it's still pretty far away. I figure I can get by on ~$2.5MM post taxes.

I don't give a shit about money or being rich I just don't want to work a soulless job anymore. I only need enough to provide for my family.
>>25948082
I work at a tech startup, not going to say more than that. And no, I'm not a dev, I actually worked hard and had to prove myself for this salary.

Dude I'm a 40 y/o fucking boomer with a wife & 2 kids, if I was a 20 year old sure, but I hardly put anything away at this point.

I unironically do, but I don't have the courage to let my family down. I'm pretty close to saying fuck it and just convincing my wife to take our kids sell the house and just move in with my or her parents so I don't actually neck.

Take the option with the best work/life balance. My situation is very similar to yours ($160k/yr job, $700k crypto stack, wife and kid). Hated my job when I was working 50 hour weeks with a commute. Several years ago, I started asking for more and more concessions from my employer (with the implicit threat that I'd leave if I don't get what I ask for). First, I work remote 3 days/week. Then fully remote. Then every other Friday off. Then every Friday off. Then only 6 hours per day. I probably work around 20 hours per week now, am still one of the highest performers on my job and get regular promotions. Life is so much better, and employer is just as happy as before. Win/win. Even if my crypto stack does 10x, I think I'd still keep working this job.

I don’t think you realize I have very little disposable income. I hope you never have to be in my shoes.
>>25948670
Definitely burned out, probably normally would have been able to negotiate significant time off but company needs right now would make that impossible. Of course if I started a new job maybe I’d be able to do like a month between, but I don’t know.
>>25948723
This is the exact convo I was just having with my wife. Current work/life balance is pretty sweet. New job would be shit. But even with good work/life balance I’m still just baked. Wish I had a gig I felt like I would work even if I didn’t have to, glad you’re in a position like that.
