Fluctuation is too fast. The "go to college to get the top jobs" was the normal advice for like 100 years, if unattainable for most people during that time. It's only recently we're seeing 90% of university majors be considered 'saturated fields' and even the 'good' ones are no longer "walk into 200k starting" but "you can make 200k with promotions in 5-10 years".
