>"It is perhaps nice to get into the role of gold and its meaning in the time before the monetary cosmos collapsed into more chaotic conditions. Throughout centuries gold was a protection against [natural] disasters, arbitrariness, and persecution. The high density of gold and its high intrinsic value mean that it is easy to hide or easily taken with you fleeing. Because natural production levels hardly allow overproduction with substantial depreciating values as result; because it does not rust and, once produced, never perishes, excessive scarcity can never occur. That’s why gold developed its image of solidity, stability, and reliability. Beside, there is of course this romantic semblance that has always accompanied gold because it is beautiful and thereby is identified with precious jewelry, important monarchs and pretty ladies. Gold coins then have been used over the centuries as means of exchange in primitive currency frameworks and were later, with the development of paper money, seen as a reliable basis. In the heydey of the gold standard one could take a banknote to the central bank and — if you would like that — get gold in return. The famous Englishman Bernard Shaw once said one has the choice between the natural stability of gold and the natural stability of honesty and intelligence of government. And he was of the opinion this choice was not hard."

25926941

>"The intrinsic value of gold along with its romantic image has until the 1960s dominated the international monetary framework. It was perhaps a bit irrational anchor however a stable anchor. Eventually, this changed, not because old-fashioned understandings had been replaced by more modern, but because the United States of America found the role of the dollar threatened by gold. So long the dollar and gold, like a Siamese twin were linked to one another, the international monetary framework could be supported, [and] there was no problem. From the 1960s onwards however, there emerged a scissor like movement. Confidence in the dollar was waning, and the confidence in gold grew. Because of the Vietnam war, the US budget deficit got that much out of balance that the US balance of payments went into deficit. The outer world saw a stream of dollars flowing its way and under [Bretton Woods] system, foreign central banks could convert those dollars in the United States in gold. American gold reserves declined and Washington was displeased with that. A good solution would have been to drastically raise the price of gold. Since it was extraordinarily peculiar that in the post-World War II world, in which everything became more than three to four times more expensive than in the 1930s, the price of gold remained the same. Actually, two things had to be done. The official gold price in all currencies had to be raised (‘their gold content had to be reduced’) and, beside this, the official dollar price of gold had to be raised extra, to allow the dollar to devalue against all other currencies. However, the Americans found this idea like swearing in a cathedral. Because, by that, the dollar would in regard to gold become second, and the American ideal was and is to have the dollar central in its role on the economic stage. As a consequence, there was only one exit and that was cutting the tie between the dollar and gold."

It doesn't actually have that much inherent value. You can't eat gold etc. etc., but gold is so ingrained in human psychology at a biological level that I think it will always be seen as valuable and a store of that value. Even the most dumbdumb normalfag NPC still recognizes it's important to hide your gold jewelry because it's valuable, not because they are checking the daily spot price but because they know it is gold.

Because it's rare (let me know when we can mine that asteroid tho), has historically been used as a form of currency or backed other currency for thousands of years, and most importantly, the very wealthy use it as a non-fiat-related store of wealth, much in the same way as pieces of art, sculptures, etc.

Like >>25929097 said, there's a psychological evolutionary attraction for gold that humans have that can't be ignored. For example, Pokemon cards have no value except for the value people give them - now expand that at a global and historic scale, and you'll understand why Gold keeps its status.

Gold has "inherent" value in the sense that it fulfills all the require needs of good money (fungibility, durability, etc etc). It's virtually the only thing in the world that actually does fulfill the requirements of sound money. So in that sense it does have intrinsic value. Is there a possibility the whole world collectively decides to never use gold again as money? Maybe, (although very unlikely) but I would be much more willing to believe given how entire nations are stockpiling gold that it still has a long lifespawn ahead of it as money.

>>25929524

Schiff's last podcast episode was pretty good; he explained very well what inherent value meant with gold. It comes from use. Sure most gold isn't used but some of it is absolutely needed to create some things -- therefore gold does havw inherent value because it cannot be replaced in these things. Granted, gold's use is mostly monetary due to historical reasons and has very little industrial use relatively speaking.

Fear of deflation is a banker lie. They have been telling it since gold was $300 an ounce. Read this article. CPI is also a lie. We already have 10% real inflation per annum, and money-printing is now parabolic. Hyperinflation is a psychological phenomenon, which is why there was no price inflation in Germany during WW1, when everybody's minds were preoccupied. That's why the authorities concoct the "we have deflation; we desperately want inflation, but we can't get it" lie.

>past money printing doesn't mean we'll necessarily have more in the future

It does now, yes, because of the debt-trap. $5 trillion from last year onward hasn't been enough to keep yields down, and, if yields rise any further, everything will crash. So we can expect an increasingly exponential amount of trillions to be printed in Q. E. Real unemployment of 40%, and a fundamentally broken economy, are also guaranteed to give rise to regular "stimulus" cheques and U. B. I., which will cost trillions. We are also on the verge of a banking crisis (many equities are trading at less than 20% of book value), and to bail out the banks would cost tens of trillions.

>> No.25940589

Yes -- I agree that because of the insane amounts of debt we will likely see more inflation and brrrrr-ing in the future. But that's not a given to me, it's just more likely than a major depression. surface samples arent the best but they are still a still an indicator. Drilling tells you whats at depth and truely how much ore your likely dealing with. Surface samples also have the issue of being often enriched due to oxidation or other chemical reactions, often generating insane results for a few meters but than crashing after you go past this layer.

>> No.25941577

>>25941412
Surface samples don't necessarily mean there is an economically mineable deposit underneath but they can give good targets for future exploration via other methods. Surface sampling is usually the first step to prospecting and can be followed up with geochemical/geophysical surveys, IP/Mag/Res surveys, trenching and other sampling, and of course drilling.

CEO gave an interview about these so-called "beyond bonanza" silver boulders in Nov. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzQPYEsOUx8

>>25941412

"One fragment weighed 417 pounds (189 kg) and specific gravity measurements indicate that it contains up to 70% silver. One of the smaller vein fragments discovered in the same area was assayed (concentrate assay) and returned just under 50% silver – 459,000 gm/t or 14,688 oz/t silver."

Yes, this is completely selective, but 14,688 ounces per ton is still utterly mad.

these are an example of super enrichment after the ore body is exposed to surface. There basically big blobs of native silver that likely grew close to surface as water dissolved the sulfide host structure, redistributing it deeper in the vien where it than was eroded and exposed again for their geos to find. This happened a lot in the Rossland gold belt, places like the Gold Drop claim found chunks of ore there with grades up to 150oz per tonne but it vanished after 10 or so meters.

Since I am the guy that brought them up yep I have a pretty good opinion of them. Its a small project right now, mainly focused on the past producing Scottie gold mine which I ve walked over many times. The original mine focused on chasing insane high grade gold quartz stringers and blebs, with little surface diamond drilling. I remember camping on top of their Blueberry vein many times too, I love that whole area up past Stewart, its gold country for sure. Corporate has been doing a stellar job running the show too, too bad the weathers been so shit otherwise they would be still doing more drilling right now. I have some ore samples with VG in them too from the main zone on their property that I ll have to dig out some day.

Thank you for the invaluable information Pan Man. Will definitely continue to hold SVE as a core position at a $120 million mcap, because, even if these boulders don't turn out to yield something truly exciting, as somebody else has pointed out, 50 million ounces of silver on leach pads at 75% recovery = they were already worth $650 million dollars at $18 silver; and as the price of silver has gone up and will go up, that number has got and can only get better and better.

yea those leach pads I ve talked about before, with modern leach formulas can probably get up to 20% more recovery than the older mixes. Commodities are the only things which are not in a bubble, and the only safe haven right now. Stocks are at 30x earnings, houses 8x earnings, bonds in an historic bubble and propped up only by tens of trillions in central-bank money-printing. The DGR is still 16:1 (should go 1:1 or even 1:2), and fiat currencies are on the verge of total collapse; gold will go 8x-16x when it becomes money again.

Once the Fed institutes Yield Curve Control, whether in policy or in practice, stocks will continue to climb and even go parabolic, but they will be crashing in terms of gold and commodities, as in Venezuela, Weimar Germany, Argentina, Zimbabwe, etc. We are still in the brief window of time where the game of musical chairs is ongoing, and people can cash out the paper gains into gold to realise their wealth. But soon that won't be a possibility any longer.

strangely enough we've been in that 'brief' window for over a year now according to /pmg/ and I have no doubt we'll still be in it 20 years from now.

So someone can be arrested for sitting on a park bench, or having relatives over a holiday meal, but a bank can fraudulently trade tens of billions of dollars of an asset that simply does not exist, with the sole intent of misleading investors? I already knew this was how the world works, but to see that tweet, and then be reading COVID lockdown horror stories on /pol/ or Zerohedge at the same time, is quite the eye-opening experience. There are literally two sets of laws: one for us plebians, and one set for the ruling class.

Since the beginning of 2020, look at the gains of gold and silver and mining stocks vs the Dow already. Again cf. since late 2018, when the Fed was first forced to restart Q. E., and people realised that they could never normalize interest-rates again. When the Fed injects more Q. E. to stop the present rise in yields, the process will be further accelerated as the money-printing becomes increasingly parabolic.

Yes, the whole thing is absolutely disgusting. And we know why they do it, to prop up the dollar and the evil system which is based upon it. That's why Bart Chilton was ordered to desist when he tried to investigate the matter; why Bear Stearns was eliminated for going long, and Lehman Brothers was cannibalized.

the idea has no logical support or evidence though. so you're just inventing narratives to explain random noise. Nothing wrong with that, but presuming why a fictional person would do fictional things is probably insane.

in April I agreed with you, but since then your predictions and mine haven't come true. In fact the opposite happened. Metals spiked and then crabbed while stocks fluctuated but held value and made some gains.

if you predict the crash of the economy long enough you'll eventually be right, but so far no luck and we're almost a year into the thing. It's possible stimulus is working just fine and nothing is going to happen.

The Dow Jones is essentially flat since the start of 2020. Gold is up 20%, silver 43%, lumber, zinc, copper, and many food prices even more so. Objectively speaking, stocks are crashing in real terms already. My prediction that $5 trillion in Q. E. and a further $120 billion per month taper would not keep yields down is now coming true. The ten-year is now over 1% and keeps creeping up. It must be got down again, only way to do that is more Q. E. The economy is not recovering, cannot recover, and trillions of dollars in stimulus cheques is on the way. A banking crisis will also happen any day now. There is no need to be impatient. If gold is going 8x-16x, silver 30x-40x, and mining stocks 100s or 1000s of x, I could not care less that I didn't speculate on ponzi schemes like Tesla or Bitcoin in 2020.

no that ground is so utterly metallic already, and totally devoid of life other than extremeophile bacteria the government hasnt been worried about it. A lot of that red staining is those microbes eating the oxides that both naturally occur in the bedrock and the tailings dumped by the original scottie mine. The government will ask scottie to continue to monitor the historic waste but again its probably of minimal concern.

Nobody said that hyperinflation or a moonshot would definitively happen in 2020. Somewhere between 2020 and 2024 is the only reasonable statement which a person could have made. And even if gold only goes up another 20%, and silver another 40% in 2021, that will translate into many x gains in the mining stocks. We know what the inevitable process to hyperinflation is. Next step is yield-curve control to stop these rising yields.

The company quotes the deposit as being similar to the Cobalt area and the cut sample does look similar. The deposits in the Cobalt area only went down 300' and the silver/cobalt was deposited from above/laterally through super saturated water. It could make a very profitable pit or small underground but with a short life, depending on the structures. The grades from cobalt historically would be unbelievable now; it funded a lot of the stock market in Toronto at the turn of the century

sure they did. Lots of us did.

we were wrong, just like you're probably wrong now. But pretending nobody said it is just correcting history to fit your narrative. Avoids admitting the likelihood that you're still wrong, but you're just kicking the can down the road until inevitably you're finally right and you can ignore the thousands of times you weren't.

to me it's simpler just to admit we were wrong before and it's likely we're wrong now. No big deal. You don't have to explain or predict a damn thing. You don't have to justify investing in whatever you want. You don't have to convince people to join you.

I didn't make a single post on /biz/ until 2020. Never bought a mining stock until 2020. Never told people that hyperinflation was coming in 2020. You can read my posts in the May and June warosu threads to verify that. Simply told people to buy gold and silver and mining stocks and get positioned rightly both for a near-term inevitability, and for one of any number of Black Swans which could happen, and can still happen at any moment.

I don't believe in the deflation narrative, but even if you do, the greatest amount of risk clearly lies with not holding PMs vs holding them.
