he's correct from a subjective point of view, which means people are indeed unhappier with technology, but from an objective point of view wrong, because without technology we wouldn't be able to proliferate our genes past the lifespan of the earth when the sun becomes a red giant, and into space.

I may be wrong but.
If there exists a system that is infinitesimally better than the current system. Then there is a right direction for society to take. And the majority of people don't have the capacity to make decisions which will bring about this infinitesimally small distance. In a society where the majority rule the current system won't bring upon the changes that are beneficial for society.
But as I said I may be wrong.
