frens I've been given $50 in credit to trade on futures and I don't have a clue how it works apart from the fact that I'm likely to lose all of it, which is fine since I at least know that futures is pretty much gambling. The only weird thing is that I have to trade at 5x leverage. So let's say I $10 of GLD futures at 5x leverage ($50), if it goes up by 10% I'd make $5 right? But if it goes down by 10% I'd lose $5. Am I understanding it correctly?

My other question is, in what situation would I theoretically lose more than the $50? If I did $50 at 5x leverage and the price dropped by 10%, I'm assuming I'd lose the lot?

The problem with currency not backed by gold, i.e. FIAT currency is that there is no upper limit how many units can be printed in a given time period. This does not mean that you need to have limited supply but it means that you need to have somewhat constant inflation (inflation corresponding to the units in circulation, not consumer price inflation) rate. For example with gold you know that the supply will increase steadily by approximately 1% per year. That is the inflation rate in gold. With any government issued fiat paper money the supply can increase by any percent in any given year. This is why fiat money requires trust, in that you need to trust that the issuer to not destroy the purchasing power of the currency by printing too many units. This is why saving long term in any fiat currency is doomed because of the unknown inflation rate and also non-zero chance of losing all your purchasing power. No fiat money has ever stood the test of time and this time won't be different.

>> No.25870967

To be more precise what I mean by not having limited supply of units, I mean that there is practically infinite gold in the observable universe (of course it is actually limited but for our purposes it can be approximated as infinite) but despite that gold is extremely scarce and mining it is extremely resource intense so we don't need to fear that the supply would suddenly go two-fold or something.

Funny thing, I was actually thinking about buying the bitcoin dip yesterday, I even have a cuckbase account ready because I used to have a small shitcoin portfolio. However, I couldn't do it because of how scammy all of the exchanges are. Every time there is a dip, most of the exchanges and especially cuckbase, will go down "for maintenance" so that people can't panic sell and let the tether ponzi collapse. It has happened every dip for the last months. On top of that just take a look at coinbase reddit and you'll see that the place is full of complaints and lawsuit threads because of constantly going down when something happens and also freezing and stealing accounts for no reason what so ever. So I decided not to buy any btc and am still comfy with gold and silver.

Full disclosure, btc is fucking ridiculous tether propped ponzi and I have no belief in the currency itself for it is not a working currency nor is there any value to be stored. The big event that all you PMG people are waiting for is when the US 10-year treasury and Gold begin to decouple. Collapse in global trade will stifle or eliminate demand for US government paper. When the US consumes less, demand for US paper disappears since there is no demand for goods. Treasuries begin to sell-off. This acceleration happened when the soviet union collapsed. Gold is the insurance you need in this situation, and there is a real possibility of this occurring.

When the world loses confidence in the 10-year treasury (the reserve asset of the world), they will flood into Gold. This too will cause base closures around the world as the US loses superpower status much in the way the UK did after WW2.

The difference this time is the US is not on the winning side. If you have not noticed the Chinese have been calling the shots in the world stage recently.

The mooning happens when faith is lost in the currency.
I am in the camp of that the lockdowns are intended to suppress the velocity of money printed in the last year which was in response to the liquidity crisis last fall. Thus the coof.

One of two things can happen:
1. Slow, extended recovery from lockdowns over the course of several years to slowly allow for velocity to pick up
2. Continued money printing and increased prices of essential goods and food, and price controls

I'm sure there's other scenarios but if all restrictions and lockdowns were lifted (let's say the vaccine actually works and all npc confidence was back) all of the helicopter money and pent up demand would cause inflation out the ass

Agreed, its one of my coworker that gave me the hitch for silver few months ago. Stacking since then, went online, find couple of website talking about gold and silver (kitco, bullion vault, even reddit for a while). Been browsing 4chan for more than a decade now but in July last year was the first time I went in /biz. Was not even sure I would find something about silver bullion and through all that crypto shill bullshit, I see one thread about what I'm looking for, PMG. Lurking and posting a bit since then, this place is smooth, comfy and way more serious compare to the rest of biz. Ya shill PMs on other threads could bring more people to buy but it would also bring a weaker base if they just FOMO. It also will bring bs spams from useless haters. Quality over quantity, something that younger generation have lost and something that is still here compare to the rest of the board. Serious players will come by themselves, its a guarantee. The Canadian coins are hella pretty. Do the golden maples have the same 1099 protections as the AGEs do?
I bought all AGEs last time, but my grandmother wants to switch some of her savings into bullion as well and she thought the AGEs weren't "yellow" enough. Figured I'd get her the Maples instead.

Plz no bully, if you had told me their weight in pounds I wouldn't have been so surprised how heavy they are!

Rising bond yields are not deflationary indicators at all. It means that demand for USTs relative to supply has fallen which is an inflationary scenario. Only if the Fed is forced to tighten its ultra loose monetary policy would there be a disinflationary impulse. Note that disinflation is not deflation.

As expected, this 300% move couldn't be sustained. I'll wait until this shit drop another 50% before going in. If it doesnt then fine but not taking the risk of being a bagholder yet, lot of other interesting company.

That's a cozy stack, fren. Sorry about the ex. I've got a close friend who's also suffering through one even though it's mostly car payments and sorting out bills/insurance/etc. now.

Keep up the good work.

Honestly I have no idea. They are beautiful, though. Someone in a previous general mentioned that the coins aren't subject to capital gains tax while the bars are, which is interesting.

Spoopy maybe, but not ugly.

The potential is enormous but that 45MC wasn't justified at all. 31 isn't too. Need to go down. A ghost company shouldn't pump like that, and retard who bought it at top are now complaining in the chat.
