Let's say the average normie put $5k into BTC at around 30k (I know that number is off, just an example). So far they made an extra thousand, which is good. And there's a possibility that BTC further moons to 60k and brings their money to $10k, which is great by poorfag normie standards
But what if it corrects to a 24k floor in the next few days? They just lost a thousand dollars. Shit, it might even correct to 18k and take $2k from them, and you KNOW that would hurt them

Well if the dip is less than your taxable profits then yes you will have less available to buy back in. It's not a loss per se though the opportunity cost is definitely there. That said, I can easily see a 30pc correction in January, so I am comfortable with taking profits right now and be taxed 20pc.
