This probably isn't /smg/ related, but I am looking for some advice on how to us an IRA/Roth IRA to buy a property and rent it to a family member. As far as I am aware, if I buy using IRA funds I can't rent to family - but is the same thing true with a Roth?

Looking for a handy way to purchase a property for my daughter without taking out an equity loan. She and her husband would use it as rental income in the future, or just resell it.

I just saw PLUG and now Bloom Energy shilled all over the place.

I have to say again and again: Hydrogen is a meme, it's all an investor-bait pump and dump that is not viable due to the laws of physics. Roundtrip efficiency cannot go above 70%. Storing it is a bitch (it goes through 1 inch of stainless steel like air through a baloon overnight). Transporting it via pipelines is basically impossible. Putting it in a car will result in the biggest car explosions you've seen on TV.

Literally anything else is better for storage:
- Gravity-based storage
- Fucking batteries (Lithium and molten salt)

Any fossil power is cheaper. Way cheaper. Even fucking nuclear, which is also dumb as shit, is better.

It's okay to go for the pump wave, but for the love of god, don't hold these stocks.

There are several sources which connects BTC to real money. Money tied to btc: busd is managed by binance and coordinates with the federal reserve, usdc which is directly run by the federal reserve etc.

Then there's Tether, which is a company based in hong kong with zero audits and prints a shit ton of money. There's a massive suspicion that they are printing usdt without having actual usd to back it up. essentially USDT is counterfitting and this is the largest BTC bubble

If the SEC finds any foul play, its literally over.

Hydrogen is mostly useful for grid storage on the megawatt scale. It really does matter whether you lose 30% of your electricity or not. Even if it's generated by solar arrays, it's not "free", you're paying the opportunity cost.

You're just moving the goal posts for no reason. Hydrogen would be even worse off in a situation where driving was done autonomously because once you remove the driver which is a most of the cost of trucking, the cost of moving vehicles matter even more. Again, the vast majority of trucking is under the range of a Tesla Semi so they don't need to stop, most long haul trucking isn't time sensitive to the point where stopping for 30 minutes to charge matters, and even if it was they could just have another truck pick up the load because it doesn't matter if you have fleet of 500 hydrogen trucks or 650 EVs if the total cost of moving goods is cheaper with EVs.

Also, electricity is pretty much everywhere and it's trivial for Tesla to install megachargers at truck stops but hydrogen infrastructure will take decades to build out and due to inefficiencies in converting electricity to hydrogen then back to electricity, they will always have higher fuel costs on top of higher maintenance costs. It won't stop idiots from investing in the industry but there is no future in it, it will lose.
