The idea that Gold and Crypto won't coexist is inane. Might be one of the dumbest comparisons on the internet.

I saw that as well when there was uncertainty the price of gold is supposed to go up but it didn't. Even when the events happened recently that happened. Very strange.

Gold price is manipulated to hell and all that paper gold doesn't help. Feels good to be a crypto chad, harder to jew the supply.

VIX - "It is also known by other names like "Fear Gauge" or "Fear Index." Investors, research analysts and portfolio managers look to VIX values as a way to measure market risk, fear and stress before they take investment decisions." From investopedia for people who don't know what VIX is.
The people running the market are getting more certain of their future the less certain societies future becomes. It's a strange correlation. I can't even fathom the cause. But something

Surface gold is worth $12.52 trillion.
What's happening is marginal demand for havens that would normally allocate to gold is instead being allocated to crypto.
Ie, it isn't a selloff of gold to flee towards crypto, but each additional dollar that would normally go to gold has some proportion going to crypto instead.

Also gold is not crashing but I suppose for gold it is moving decently.
Wealth formerly allocated here as a hedge against uncertainty is being moved back into risk assets as the future is a lot more certain now, despite people rioting. Particularly because it is more obvious now who will be in charge of the government going forward.

They can and will coexist. But they are still competing for the same space, and bitcoin is much more practical than having gold coins shipped to you and storing them in a heavy iron safe and then going to a dealer to physically haggle over them, and worry about whether you're getting ripped off in terms of purity, etc. It's only natural that crypto will eat into gold's mcap
