I tried to trade for the first time yesterday and put 3k into shitcoins. I had my finger over the sell button for a 10% profit but thought: maybe it will keep going higher so didn't sell. I sold today for a 5% loss before they went down even more. How do you get rid of greed when trading? I could've just bought the BTC dip yesterday

First step would probably to actually read some books about trading (reading posts here doesn't count)

this
you should study a lot, watch videos, make up your own strategies after quite some work on your own, learn TA, follow good traders on twitter (I personally really like Crypto Kaleo)
Also you should know when to exit BEFORE buying in so like this you just sell whenever you reach that point so you don't have to start reflexing and negociating with yourself.
I think you should indeed start with a small profit: 10% to 20% seems reasonable especially during a bullrun like this
I'd also close my position before going to bed, especially if you've made gains already
good luck

Okay, going to seriously try to help here. Stop trying to daytrade. It just won’t work for you. Follow these 2 macro indicators:
>pi cycle top
>rhodl ratio
When they say sell, do it. It’s as easy as that.
