Sort of. Keep an eye on TSLA stock for a more accurate idea and multiply it by across, like, 12 more companies. As soon as some really bad news finally comes out on TSLA, it'll collapse as the entire tech stock market did back in 2000.

Crypto's in a bit of a different place. Even if it all collapses, miners will keep on mining and it can all come rising back up again. It'll never be a stable currency, though.

These are old projects pumping violently. This isn't IPOs drawn up on napkins reaching multimillion dollar valuations.

There is almost no venture capital involved. Main Street is still scared of crypto. Institutional money has bought in and now this is just a shell game played by whales and exchanges to see how high they can wash BTC (and how much BTC they can get for swapping you their useless alt stacks from years ago) before the institutional money starts exiting. When that happens, they will exit too and convert to fiat until the music stops.

Dotcom was nothing like this. It was scammy but not openly so.

This, I could've put it in the previous post but whatever.
Real bubbles that fuck your shit up are absurdly big and ridiculous. And if you think crypto falls into those categories you have no idea how bad things can actually get.
Think of the most obnoxious exuberance you've ever seen on this board. Now square it and see it everywhere in the world, not only on 4chan or investing circles.
When grandmothers are asking how to buy in is not the peak of the bubble. It's when grandmothers who've never seen a financial market in their entire lives already bought with vast chunks of their savings and are certain that the economy is fundamentally different now and everyone will get rich. It's when prices cease to matter and no one thinks corrections are even possible. It's when conservative investors are risking it all, selling houses, taking HELOCs, cashing 401Ks, college savings, the whole nine. It's when institutions are doing the same things. When the market is completely devoid of bears, we will know bubbles.

I was born in 84, so the dot com thing imploded around the time I was 16. It was not the same, because the Internet wasn't the same. I used the internet to chat to people on music sharing stuff (called napster then there was another one later on that took over, forgot the name). it wasn't an all consuming thing where everyone had fbook. some people didn't even notice it happened, only ppl really invested in it (almost no one) got fucked. Nortel used to operate in my town and got pretty much shuttered after that, causing my Dad to be unemployed briefly.

I remember my grandfather also had millions in stock but didn't sell and lost most of it. people didn't "buy low and sell high", they mostly bought to hold. no one knew what was going on with tech, there was a lot of "new normal" type stuff which would all be seen as immediate bear flags today, but which were really just not grasped by joe public.

as i said, it didn't affect that many people.
what happens with crypto now won't affect too many people either, you guys are basically dotcom 2.0: going to get raped, no one will care, everyone will resent you and in 20 years, everyone will use [a new] crypto (if it unfolds the same way the tech booblay did)
