25646383 No.25646383 [Reply] [Original]

Last year, Chainlink was integrating projects at one per working day with breaks for the weekend. This year they are already averaging 2 integrations per working day with new things on weekends. We are starting to see the network effect.

One thing you are all missing. For the chainlink team to start posting two a day, it means their backlog is so big that they cant keep up with posting one a day for the forseeable future.

The only valid FUD LINK I know of is that subsidies from Sirgay are the only reason nodes are profitable.
Subsidies are paid in LINK and immediately dumped by the node operators who received them.
Has this FUD been debunked yet?

depends on the data being provided. To an extent, every node that transmits price feed data does without request does cost money in terms of subsidies. That being said, a node operator launching a node that can be requested for other data is paid for by the requestor and not the team. 350 million links were set aside for the purpose of encouraging people to broadcast pricing data for free so more defi protocols can use it and generate network effect. Eventually these nodes providing price data will be getting paid to offer other services by requestors and thus can afford to freely offer price data and no longer require subsidies from the team.

Thanks, fren.
It seems that LINK price growth is at least partially use-based and unrelated to the BTC bubble, then?
How will the inevitable BTC blow off top affect us? Are there some hopium infused predictions you can hook me up with?

>> No.25649575

>>25649137
chainlink will continue to have increasing price supports due to its integrations I believe and partnerships like the WEF. That being said, it is hard to say if the current price is merely the price catching up to the network value or the bull run. I suspect the price now is due to the bull run we are in as other projects are going up. The downside will be more limited I think due to the integrations. So when the BTC blow off happens, I think we will see a rise in sats to counteract it somewhat to mitigate the fall. Chainlink was the best performer in the past bear cycle and has never been around for a market bull run so its hard to say how it will react. It seems chainlink has been 10x every year which I assume is due to its integrations so we can expect it to be 50-100 by the eoy. Hopium would be 1000 eoy

Link was there during 2017, we didn't really pump (up to ~$1.20 I believe) but also never went below ico when it all collapsed. This combined with its performance during the bear market makes it seem that link price has a way lower correlation to btc/eth movements that the average coin/token. So yes, 100 eoy is quite doable.

I would disagree and say we have still only seen what amounts to a staging phase. The network is being bulwarked with features and data providers.

Baseline and Offchainlabs are about to ignite this engine, then we will see some serious shit.

No, the valid FUD is that the only important data that needs to be confirmed by nodes is data that also needs to be private. Contracts, Finance, Voting, etc

Right now LINK only has on avenue to keep the data private that goes to a node something like Intel SGX to make sure nodes are secure and the data is kept private. This is why ChainLInk purchased TownCrier in 2018. They're going to work on integrating SGX into their nodes. The issue is TownCrier is centralized. How can mega corps trust that TownCrier doesn't simply build in a backdoor to see that private data?

Sergey was even asked about this exact problem and he didn't have an answer. He just said it'll hopefully be solved.

Checkout the link below at the 30:00. The dude asks "LINK is cool and all, but what if this trusted 3rd party is compromised?"
