yep another method is portfolio balancing, (50% btc, 10% alts, 10% stablecoin/cash, 10% eth for instance) making sure you always have a set ratio and rebalance it as needed.
if you're crazy go 10% stablecoin, I would set mine much higher as it peaks, that way you can also buy dips.
