Everything drops together when there's a market-wide crash. The reason is because the big boys who are leveraged out the ass end up needing to pull out of other assets like gold and BTC as well in order to cover. On the retail side of things, you have people now broke and jobless, forcing them to liquidate their investments.

This also means crashes are perfect buying opportunities for the people fortunate enough to have extra funds they can still invest with.
